NEW JOURNEY

Text:John 1:12.  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: The birth of a new child always bring Joy to  family and well wishers. In the same way, Luke  15:7 says, *I tell you that there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over 99 righteous people who don’t need to repent.”*  That is, the birth of a new born in Christ will bring untold joy to those in heaven than any mere unbeliever or church goer who sees no need for repentance. This new birth in Christ is what is known as second birth. However, the birth of a new born is not the end of the journey, it's actually the beginning of a new journey. It is expected that the new born babe should grow into maturity and adulthood. 1 Peter 2:2 says, As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: the essence of the milk is so that you can grow. The question is, have you experienced this second bi...

ANCIENT LANDMARK

Text: Proverbs  22:28  Remove not the ancient landmark, which your fathers have set. Ancient landmarks are physical markers like a stone or piles of stones used to denote property boundaries in ancient times. These markers are set to establish inheritances.  We shall be looking at this ancient landmark in terms of spiritual markers or symbols that the Lord has set for us in order that our inheritance in Him might be preserved. The scriptures made it very clear that you are the one who has the responsibility of not removing the ancient landmark. Also the landmarks were set by fathers.  Today, we shall be looking at the ancient landmark of Faith. The scripture rightly asks us to contend for the faith (ancient landmark) which was once for all delivered to the saints.  *Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delive...

FATHER-2

Text: Proverbs  17:6. Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers. It takes more than just bringing a child to this world to be a Father. We have established that a father is one who is able to raise and nurture another person for God. You can imagine God saying this to Abraham before he had Isaac- "For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice, that the LORD may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him." God labelled Abraham the Father of many Nations because He knew ahead of time that He is a Father not only in  a biological sense but most importantly in a spiritual sense. Let's quickly consider the implication of what the Lord said about Abraham. Firstly, the Lord said, "For I have known him..." To be God's ideal kind of Father, you must be a Father that is known by God. Are you known by God...

FATHER

Text: Proverbs  17:6. Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers. One major problem in the home, society, community, nations and in our world today is the  absence of  Father. Though there are fathers, but there are few correct or ideal Fathers as intended by God.  The world we live has wrongly defined fatherhood for us. It has erroneously raised a wrong standard of what and who a father is.  As we prepare to celebrate Fathers' day tomorrow, the Lord would have us lay out his foundational plans and standard for a father.  A father is one who generates, produces or originates biologically, spiritually or intellectually. He is more than one who gives birth to another biologically. In fact, to be a biological father is about the first and lowest level of fatherhood. *Until you are able to lead your children to God, you are not yet a real father as far as God is concerned.*  Abram was called 'Exalted father' b...

REMAIN

Text : 1Thessalonians 4:17.  Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up in the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. *Everything will not end here, the big picture is-there's life after death, and the big question is-are you prepared for that life?*  A number of people get preoccupied with their lives here on earth and pay no attention to the life after death. The truth is, man is an eternal being, your life here on earth is just an infinitesimal fraction of your whole life. However, God expects you to use this little fraction of your life to choose where you will spend the rest of your life. After death, man will either end up in eternal condemnation or in eternal life. The reality of this eternal dimension of man is seldomly preached in our churches today, yet the Bible is clear about this very important topic.  Everything in this world has expiration dates, and this earth too has expiration date.(2 Peter ...

PLEASURE

Text:Revelation 4:11.  Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. God created all things so they all can give Him pleasure. Now, I know you know that you are included in the "all things" that He created to give Him pleasure. If you don't know your purpose in life, know that essentially, you were created to give God pleasure. Our God is a Pleasure being. If you have ever experienced pleasure before, know that that pleasurable expression was put in you by God, because He has deposited a measure of Himself in all of His creatures. Because the devil knows that God will be pleased with you when your life is giving pleasure to Him, he went ahead of man to pervert pleasure as it were. Man that was originally created to give pleasure to God now derives pleasure in displeasing God. 2 Timothy 3:4 says men have become lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God. The fall of man has ...

THE BLESSED MAN 2

Text:Psalms 1:2.  But he delights in the LORD’s instruction, and meditates in his instruction day and night. The book of Psalms chapter one describes who a blessed man is. While verse one talks about what a blessed man will or should not do, the next verse talks about what he should do. 1.) He delights in the Lord's instruction. The Lord's instruction is very clear in His words. Every child of God knows what the Lord's instruction is, the problem is, not every child of God delights in His instruction. The reason many are not delighted in keeping the Lord's instruction is because they are still in love with sin. Psalms 119:11 says, *Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.*  That is, if you don't want to sin against God, you will intentionally keep His words (instruction) in your heart with the intention of obeying them. *A truly blessed man is a man that pays attention to the Lord's instruction in order to obey it.*  2.) He meditates...

THE BLESSED MAN

Text:Psalms 1:1.  How blessed is the one who does not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand in the pathway with sinners, or sit in the assembly of scoffers!*  The book of Psalms chapter one describes who a blessed man is. Everyone wants to be blessed, but a truly blessed man is the one with the following characteristics - 1.) He does not follow the advice of the wicked. The wicked are full of devious advice. Proverbs  4:19 says, *The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.* A truly blessed man will not follow the cunning advice of the wicked, no matter how tempting. Note that the wicked will always offer their advice even when you don't solicit for it, but the decision to follow such advice is still yours. The standard of God remains the same. He does not wants His children to cut corners in order to be successful. Note that ill-gotten wealth cannot qualify you as a blessed man. Proverbs 13:11 says, *Wealth gained dishonestly dwindles awa...

AT THE SCENT OF WATER

Text: Job 14:9  "...at the scent of water it will bud and sprout again like a new seedling..." For there is hope for a tree, If it is cut down, that it will sprout again, And that its tender shoots will not cease. Though its root may grow old in the earth, And its stump may die in the ground, Yet at the scent of water it will bud And bring forth branches like a plant. (Job 14:7-9). In the same vein, there is hope for your seemingly dead vision and dream to come alive again. That vision, that dream, that very desire that the Lord has planted in your heart will certainly come alive again at the slightest scent of the water of the word of God. There are visions and dreams that the Lord has given you to fulfill that you are not even sure of how to bring them to life anymore. Their roots have grown old in the earth, and their stumps have died in the ground, Thanks be to God that such old roots and dead stumps in the ground will live again at the scent of water. God's word says...

WHO TOLD YOU?

Text:* Genesis 3:11  "Who told you that you were naked?" the Lord God asked. "Have you eaten from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat?"  *There are many voices you are listening to, but only one is important- the voice of the good Shepherd!* We live in a world where our arch, enemy, the devil is constantly speaking against us, accusing us and tempting us.  He carries out his onslaughts against us in a tricky manner wherein it appears he's speaking for us or in our favour; but we must be wise enough to know that he is not for us but against us. The serpent went to Eve in the garden and asked her a question about what the Lord has commanded. Adam and Eve fell for the subtlety of Satan despite their stature and wisdom. They fell simply because they heard a voice, they listened to it and they closely examined the voice. The very first question God asked Adam and Eve after they had fallen and discovered their nakedness was, "who told you that you wer...

ONE THING

Text: Luke 10:42 "But only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."(NIV) Can you imagine you having a VVIP guest like the President of a country in your home on a Sunday evening. Having just your sister at home to run few errands in order to prepare for this important guest. You discussed with your sister what she would do for you once the president comes around. The work has been shared in such a way that your guest would be maximally entertained. Now on the D-day, the president arrived. You welcomed him and swung into action. While you start running up and down, your sister, Mary just sat down chatting with the president.  Now it seems to you that your sister is not keeping up with the agreement. Having given her several signs which she neglected; Martha decided to talk to the president herself. “Please Mr. President sir, can you tell my sister to join me in preparing a delicacy for you”   Surprisingly,  the pres...

IGNORANCE OF THE ELDER SON.

Text: Luke 15:31  "And he said to him, 'Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours.  *Our ignorance is our mountain, there is no insurmountable mountain anywhere.* Although the  elder Son in Jesus' parable was not the focus, yet the Lord is highlighting few important learnings from his reactions towards his lost but found brother. The ignorance of the elder brother prevented him from rejoicing with the Father over his brother's return. When the elder Son heard about the kind of warmth welcome and party the Father  threw for his brother, he got angry, and refused to join the Father in the merriment. The Father had to come out just like He went out to meet the younger brother to also meet the elder brother and plead with him. His father enlightened him in order to clear off his ignorance. The Father said to him,  "'Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours. (Luke 15:31). Sometimes, you become jealous over  the success of certain...
