LEADERSHIP BY RESPONSIBILITY

Text: Judges 4:9

"Very well," she replied, "I will go with you. But you will receive no honor in this venture, for the Lord's victory over Sisera will be at the hands of a woman." So Deborah went with Barak to Kedesh.

It is possible for you to be crowned as a leader over a people or project without you undertaking the required responsibility for such a position. There are many leaders who are just occupying a position without responding in a  commensurate manner  to the responsibility  expected of them.

*One of the qualities that qualifies one as a good and godly leader is the ability to take responsibility.*

Not being able to take responsibility is the reason for the fall of our first parents. And that's still the problem with many homes, and organisations today.

Adam could not take responsibility for his action, hence he pointed accusing finger  to God after his fall-  "It was the woman you gave me who gave me the fruit, and I ate it." (Genesis  3:12). This statement simply showed that Adam did not take full responsibility for his actions. He shifted the blame to God, saying it was the woman God gave him that made him fall.

It was so obvious that Adam was never deceived like Eve just as the scripture highlighted in 1 Timothy 2:14. *And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. 1Timothy 2:14.*  Adam simply took the forbidden fruit because he never took responsibility for his leadership position over the garden, in which the Lord had asked him to dress and keep. (Gen. 2:15).

In the same vein, our study text revealed how Barak lost honour to Deborah simply because he couldn't take responsibility for his leadership position.

The Lord had spoken to Prophetess Deborah to command Barak to go and deploy troops at Mount Tabor; to take with him ten thousand men of the sons of Naphtali and of the sons of Zebulun against Sisera, the commander of Jabin's army( the oppressor of Israel).

Prophetess Deborah, having faithfully delivered the Lord's message to Barak, Barak said to her , "If you will go with me, then I will go; but if you will not go with me, I will not go!" Then Deborah replied, "I will surely go with you; nevertheless there will be no glory for you in the journey you are taking, for the LORD will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman." Then Deborah arise and went with Barak to Kadesh.

It is clear from the above that Barak did not take his place as the leader (commander) over the Lord's army. Hence the glory was given to Deborah.

Have you been given a leadership position to lead a people or undertake a project? Then take the responsibility and do the work of a leader wholeheartedly.

Remember, *Leadership is more than occupying a position, it's about taking responsibility.*

 *Bible Reading:*

Judges 4:1-9.

 *PRAYER FOCUS.*

Father Lord help me to always take responsibility for all that you have committed into my hands.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
