Text : Matthew 14:30
*But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.*
In this year, the Lord would have you look away from the wind that will be blowing around you and focus on Him alone.
The wind stands for all the challenges, difficulties, distractions and fears that may come your way this year. *You must be intensely focused on Jesus to the extent that you will completely lose sight of the boisterous wind.*
After Jesus had told His disciples not to be afraid, Peter requested that He should command him to come meet Him on the water. Jesus responded to Peter, "come". As Peter stepped out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus, but when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid and he started sinking. (Mathew 14:28-30).
It is worthy to note that Peter actually did walked on water for a while before he started sinking. Your eyes cannot be on Jesus and on your problems at the same time. You must decide ahead of time what you want to set your gaze on- Jesus or your problems.
*When your focus is on your problems, you will sink on the sea of life, but when it's on Jesus, you will stay afloat even in the midst of turbulence.*
Peter stepped out on the water when his focus was on Jesus, but he started sinking the moment his focus shifted to the wind. You must decide ahead of time where your focus would be during your difficult times.
The Psalmist in Psalms 46:1-3 recorded the resolve of hissons of Korah as follows:
_*God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.* Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah_
You may also need to make the above Psalms your own resolve in this year.
Let your watchword in this year always be : *I Fear no FEAR, I doubt my DOUBT; I Trust my God.*
*Bible Reading:*
Mathew 14:23-31.
*PRAYER FOCUS*
1.) The Lord has not given me the spirit of fear, therefore I declare that fear shall no longer have a rule over my life in the name of Jesus.
2.) Father Lord, deliver me from every fearful spirit in the name of Jesus.
