HEARING GOD

Text: John 10:4   *When he has driven out all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they recognize his voice.*   *As a Father, God is always speaking to His children. The question is, do you hear Him speak?*  Often, you hear questions like, how can I  hear God speak to me? How do I  know if it is the voice of God? Does God speaks to everyone? Just imagine that you are a father with five children, would you speak to two of your children and never have anything to do with the other three? Under normal circumstances, every Father wants to have good rapport with his children. Much more than an earthly father, God desires a very good rapport with all His children.  Because many do not have a good working relationship with their earthly fathers, who ought to model a good and loving father figure to them, a lot already have a distorted idea of the fatherhood nature of God.   *One of the ploys of the enemy is to make man view God as unloving. God is a loving Father.*

FIRST LOVE

Text: Revelation 2:4  *Nevertheless I have [this] against you, that you have left your first love.*  Our Lord Jesus Christ delivered seven letters to the seven churches in Asia, present-day Turkey, through the hands of seven angels unto John. It is worthy to note that all the seven churches are located quite close to one another. This means that many churches/believers can be in the same city and be responding to God's commands at different frequency. The messages to these seven churches remain ever-true messages for churches(Believers) throughout all ages. Hence, we must pay close attention to each of the messages so we will not fall victim of the same  predicament. For the church in Ephesus, Jesus has this to say: 1."I know your works, 2. I know your labor, 3. I know your patience, and 4.  I know that you cannot bear those who are evil.  5.And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars; 6. You have persevered, 7.You have labored fo

MIRROR

Text: James 1:25.  *But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.*   *No one looks into the mirror expecting to see the reflection of another person,  the word of God is like a mirror,  how much of yourself are you seeing there?*  The word of God is a mirror. When you look into it, you are expected to see yourself and make ammendments.  James 1:23&24 say, if anyone hears the word but is not obedient to it, he is like a man who looks at himself in a mirror,  and studies himself carefully, and then goes off and immediately forgets what he looks like. On a norms, when you look at yourself in the mirror and noticed some imperfections be it in your dressing or your body, the normal thing to do is to right the wrongs.  It will be sheer madness to look at yourself in the mirror and refused to make adjustments where such is obviously needed.  Same goes for spiritual

LOVE TRIANGLE

Text : Mark  12:30.  *And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.*  A lawyer of the Pharisees came to Jesus with the big question- what is the greatest commandment in the law? In response to his question, Jesus gave what I refer to as the love triangle.  Without mincing words,  Jesus said “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. ’Mathew 22:37. This is the first arm of the triangle.  Here,God is demanding for your 100% love.   *Can you honestly say you love the Lord with ALL YOUR HEART, SOUL, MIND AND STRENGTH?* This is the kind of love God is demanding of you. Love is all-encompassing, when you are truly in love, you trust easily and you can go to any length for your lover.  *You can gauge your love for God by how much you trust Him with your life.*  While the lawyer asked for just one commandment,  Jesus  aptly g

REGRET

Text: Ecc 12:1.  *Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;*   *For every decision you take, you'll either live to thank God for it or to regret it.*  If there's a man you need to pay attention to when he speaks, I  think king Solomon takes the first position.  He remains the wisest king that ever ruled. In  terms of wealth and pleasure,  it was recorded concerning him that there was nothing his heart desires that he didn't indulge himself. Eccl. 2:10. He remained the only man known to have managed one thousand women ( 700 wives and 300 concubines). 1 Kings 11:3. At the end of it all, he took a stock of his own life, and he decided to write down words of advice for the generation after him to learn from his failures and successes. So when such a man speaks, it is wisdom to listen.  To the young fellas, he says in Ecclesiastes 11:9    "Enjoy yourself in your

TAKE CHARGE

Text: Mark  9:24    *And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.* For the father of the child in our text to take  his son to the disciples of Christ, shows to a degree that he believed that they can heal his child. When he didn't get the desired result, he carried the child straight to Jesus. This also shows that he believed Jesus can heal his child.  A number of times ,we make efforts because we hope to get desired results.   However, this efforts will be futile if it is not accompanied with absolute trust in the power of God to make our hopes come true. Today, we want to glean a lesson or two from the life of this father. It's obvious the child could not help himself. If his father had not taken it upon himself to take charge of his life he would have died a painful death from a dumb spirit.  *God had committed some seemingly helpless individuals into your care, if you will not take charge over their lives

UNBELIEVING BELIEVER

Text: Mark  9:24    *And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.*  The Son of a certain man was once possessed with an evil dumb spirit. Whenever it brings on a seizure, it throws him to the ground. Then he foams at the mouth, grinds his teeth, and becomes stiff. So the man  asked jesus' disciples to drive the spirit out, but they didn’t have the power.” Mark 9:18. So the man brought the boy to Jesus and reported the case to Him, When the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into convulsions. He fell on the ground and kept rolling around and foaming at the mouth. Mark 9:20. Then Jesus asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” He said, “Since he was a child. The spirit has often thrown him into fire and into water to destroy him. But if you are able to do anything, have pity on us and help us!” Jesus told him, “‘If you are able?’  Everything is possible for the person who believes. Mar

PLEASING HIM

Text: Hebrews 11:6   *But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.*  All things (yourself inclusive) were created to give pleasure to God. Revelation  4:11 says *Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.*  All of God's creations are giving glory to Him in their different courses. The sun, moon, stars, waters, mountains, trees and everything created are all giving glory to God. Psalms 148. But the question is; is man that was created in the image of God giving glory to God? Are you bringing pleasure to the Father? Very expressly, Hebrews 11:6 says it is impossible for you to please God without faith. So *if pleasing God is your target as a child of God, then,  faith is a commodity you can't afford to play with.*  The new living translation explains our text bette

The Substance

Text: Hebrews 11:1   *Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.*  Faith is the substance of things hoped for...  *For  Faith to come alive in you, there must be substance of things you hope for.* What substantiate your hope is Faith. What makes your hope to be so real and tangible is Faith.   *Anyone can hope for anything but only faith makes hope a reality.* Faith is like an engine to the car of hope. Without an engine, a car cannot work, so also is hope  without faith. Galatians  5:5 says  *"For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith"*  The scripture made it clear that it is through the Spirit that we wait for the *hope* of righteousness *by Faith*  The substance of what you hope for is the word of God that you receive as a promise. When God's word comes to you, it breeds faith in you. *So then faith [comes] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God*.Roman 10:17. Whenever you need God's intervention

CAREFUL EXAMINATION 3

Text:  1Kings 3:21.   *The next morning, I got up to nurse my son, and he was dead. But when I examined him carefully in the light of day, he turned out not to be my son whom I had borne!”*   *A number of times, we accept the enemy's orchestration as fate, whereas the plans and purpose of God for our lives are good and never evil.* We are still looking at the life of the prostitute that God blessed with a man child, which was changed for a dead son while she slept. When she woke up, she met a dead son by her side.  It's possible that now that you are awake, your marriage is dead, or your career is dead, or your vision is dead. It may appear as though all hope is lost. But hold on a bit and examine it again. The woman said, ```But when I examined him carefully in the light of day, he turned out not to be my son whom I had born!```  Imagine that the woman didn't take the pain to carefully examine the child, she would have accepted the dead child as her fate. Beloved,  take ti

PATIENCE 2

Text:  Proverbs 16:32   *A patient man does not become angry quickly. He is better than a strong man. A man like that is better than a soldier who beats the enemies in a city.*   *A patient man is better than a strong man. Patience can cook a stone soft.*  Patience is a virtue. To know If you are  patient, check your anger gauge. Being slow to get angry compares to great understanding; as being quick-tempered compares to stupidity. Pro 14:29. The Bible contrasts patience with pride.  ```Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.``` Ecclesiastes  7:8  Now, note that there is a kind of patience a Christian should have towards God. When you pray, you are to wait patiently for answers.  In fact, patience is needed in order for you to possess your soul.   ```In your patience possess ye your souls.``` Luke  21:19. But, the patience we are talking about today has to do more with your relationship with other humans.  G
