The Substance

Text: Hebrews 11:1

*Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.*

Faith is the substance of things hoped for...

*For  Faith to come alive in you, there must be substance of things you hope for.* What substantiate your hope is Faith. What makes your hope to be so real and tangible is Faith.

*Anyone can hope for anything but only faith makes hope a reality.* Faith is like an engine to the car of hope. Without an engine, a car cannot work, so also is hope  without faith.

Galatians  5:5 says  *"For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith"*

The scripture made it clear that it is through the Spirit that we wait for the *hope* of righteousness *by Faith*

The substance of what you hope for is the word of God that you receive as a promise. When God's word comes to you, it breeds faith in you. *So then faith [comes] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God*.Roman 10:17.

Whenever you need God's intervention concerning any situation confronting you, the first thing to do is to get a substance from the word. Once you get a substance in the word, that means faith has come.

For instance, Abraham and Sarah got the  substance in form of receipt and understanding of God's promise for  a child even at old age.

Though the Bible is filled with many promises of God concerning different situations, but none will be yours until it becomes a substance to you. In other words, those promises won't be yours until you gain understanding (revelation).  When understanding comes, light beams on you. You then see your situation as God sees it, and you are able to believe God without any doubt in your heart.

This is where meditation in the word comes in. You need to spend time meditating on  God's word for the release of substance (understanding) into your heart.

For instance, the scripture recorded about Sarah  in Hebrews 11:11 that:

_By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised._

Common understanding will say that once you  get to the menopause stage, you can no longer produce a baby, but the understanding of God's word to Sarah says that she will bring forth a child even when she has passed menopause and we'll stricken in age.

You don't gain understanding by just scanning through the scriptures for words that fits your situation, and you start confessing. No! You need to study and meditate. Let the word pass through your eyes and ears into your mind, and enter into your heart. Once God's word sits in your heart, then it is yours.

*God's word cannot be potent in your life until it has become a substance to you, it becomes a substance when  it has brought understanding into your heart.*

*PRAYER FOCUS*

1. Father Lord, give me the grace to become a dilligent student of your word.

2. Father Lord,  open my eyes to behold the wonderful things in your word as I study it from now onward.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

WHEN GOD IS SILENT(2)

Text: Matthew 4:1  *Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.*  We saw yesterday that God was not pleased with many israelites that left Egypt for the promised land  (Corinthians 10:5).  A good percentage of the Israelites were overthrown in the wilderness.   Wilderness experience is not what any child of God desires, but it is an experience God sends or allows his children go through. In Deuteronomy 8:2, God says that He *LED* the Isrealites through the wilderness for forty years to humble them, to prove them, and to know what was in their heart whether they would keep his commandments or not.  Our Lord Jesus Christ was also *LED* into the wilderness by the Spirit of the Lord to be tempted by the devil. You will  notice there is a similar feature of the number *40(forty)* between these two wilderness experiences. That is, that of the Israelites and our Lord Jesus Christ. The Israelites spent 40years, Jesu...
