Text* 2 Timothy 2:24.
A servant of the Lord must not argue. Instead, he must be kind to everyone, teachable, _and_ willing to suffer wrong..."
There are certain things a child of God should never be found doing, and one of them is engaging in unnecessary arguments.
On several occasions,(in one chapter alone), Apostle Paul warned believers about the danger of arguments. In 2 Timothy 2:14 he said, “Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, but to the ruin of the hearers.”
In other words, arguments over words do not produce anything profitable; rather, they damage those who listen.
Again in verse 16, he advises us to *avoid pointless discussions, because such conversations only lead people further into ungodliness.* What often begins as a simple debate can easily become a breeding ground for pride, anger, and strife.
Paul continues in verses 23-24 saying, “Do not have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. And the servant of the Lord must not argue but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, patient when wronged.”
This instruction is very clear. As servants of God, our calling is not to win arguments but to reflect Christ in character.
Instead of arguing, we are expected to show kindness, humility, patience, and a willingness to teach with a gentle spirit.
The truth is that situations will always arise that may tempt you to argue. People may misunderstand you, misrepresent you, or even treat you unfairly. Yet the instruction remains the same: avoid pointless arguments.
Sometimes you may even have to endure injustice or suffer wrong simply to keep away from pointless arguments. It may not always feel comfortable, but it preserves your godliness and protects your testimony.
Many arguments may seem justified at the moment, but when they are over, you often realize they produced no real benefit. Instead, they leave behind hurt, pride, and damage.
As a servant of the Lord, choose a higher path. Choose kindness over contention, patience over wrath, and wisdom over unnecessary debates.
*Let your words bring peace, not strife- avoid pointless arguments.*
