Text:* Exodus 2:23
And it came to pass in the process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage.
The story of the children of Israel as we have it in the Pentateuch is full of instructions and life-lessons for those of us in this new testament age to learn from.
For about 430 years, the Israelis' were in bondage in Egypt. It didn't start out as bondage, it started as a quest for greener pastures in a very distressed situation.
When Jacob (Isreal) and his children landed in Egypt, they were well accepted and they immediately settled in Goshen, a fertile region in northeastern Egypt, famously known as the place of refuge, provision, and safety.
This is similar to what anyone who seeks greener pastures in other countries or continents with better amenities and security may experience. *While it is not wrong to move or relocate from one place to another, as a child of God, ensure that it is the Spirit of God that is leading you to do so.*
The Israelites relocated to Egypt because it has been prophesied long before that time that it will be so. However, what started as a beautiful new beginning turned to a bitter, frustrating life of slavery.
When they could no longer bear it, they cried out to God for deliverance and God heard them.
Now, the amazing thing in this story is that God was not just willing to deliver them, He actually did not intend for them to stay longer than 400 years.
In Genesis 15:13 God said unto Abram, that 'Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years.'
That is, if they understood the intention of God for them, they would not have stayed 30 years more in slavery. The question is, why didn't God save them miraculously 30 years earlier without them crying for help?
God wouldn't step into your space if you don't call or desire Him to. He said in Jeremiah 33:3 that "call unto me and I will answer you ..' He only answers those who call out to Him.
He says in Psalms 50:15 that, *Call on me in the day of distress; I will deliver you, and you will glorify me.”* Again, He says in Psalms 91:15 that, *When he calls out to me,I will answer him. I will be with him in his distress. I will deliver him, and I will honor him.*
God repeated this instructions severally in His words because He only answers those who call on Him. If you need help today, cry to Him for it.
If you think His promises are delaying in manifestation, call unto Him. Cry to your Father today for help, He is more willing and ready to help you than you give Him credit for.
