CALL TO GLORY

Text : 2 Thessalonians 2:14. With this purpose in mind, he called you through our proclamation of the gospel so that you would obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus, the Messiah. A number of times, when you hear call to glory, what readily comes to mind is the death of someone. In fact, on this side of the world, "call to glory" is a common description for public announcement on obituary posters.  There's nothing glorious in the death of anyone who didn't die in Jesus Christ. As a matter of fact, God expects you to come into glory while you are still living here on earth. *Anyone who couldn't enter into God's kind of glory during his lifetime will not enter into eternal glory.*  A true call to glory is what we are told in 2 Thessalonians 2:14 that, _whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ._  You are called to glory by the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Many Christians can boldly tell you that they have not b...

DON'T THROW IT BACK-2

Text :1 Peter 2:23  Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: It was established yesterday that when you render evil for evil or revile for revile it's like you are returning a bomb to someone you are in the same car with. Apostle Peter, having closely followed Jesus Christ for 3 years gave account of how He did not revile those who reviled him. He further admonished us to follow in the same steps, saying *"not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing. (1 Peter 3:9)."*  From the above, God's words made it very clear  the reason you must not render evil for evil is because you were called to blessing. Blessing is your inheritance. And if blessing is your inheritance, then blessing is what you must always give irrespective of what people may say or do to you. A man who ...

DON'T THROW IT BACK

Text :1 Peter 2:23  Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: Our Lord Jesus Christ was reviled on many occasions, but at no point did he revile back. Jesus Christ suffered in the hands of His creatures but he threatened not. Though He had the power to have defended Himself against the assaults of man, but he simply chose to commit Himself into God's hands.  Just as Jesus did not receive offences from His persecutors, so also must you not. To receive offence is to revile those who revile you, it is to curse those who curse you, it is to render evil for evil. When you pay back your offenders or persecutors in their own coin, you are actually throwing back the offence.  Imagine a scenario where you are in a car moving at a very high speed, and someone in the car suddenly throws a grenade (bomb) at you.  What would you do? Would you throw it back at him in the car? Of course n...

WAKE UP

Text : Romans 13:11 And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. God is calling out to you this day to wake up from your sleep. We must awake out of sleep because our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. This salvation talks about our ultimate and final joining with the LORD forever. Are you getting ready for this flight?  There are too many preachers that are holding people down in deep sleep here on earth. They do this by the kind of messages they are preaching, and that is the reason we need revival now. This is not a message only for unbelievers but for every believer in Christ Jesus, and for those that are deep in the sleep of sin and unrighteousness. Jesus is coming back, whether while you are alive or when you are no more on earth, you will surely see him. When He appears all saints that have slept (died) in Him shall be raised, but those that died in their sins shall s...

HIS VOICE- 2

Text : John 10:3. To him the porter opens; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out. We established yesterday that one thing you can't joke with as a true follower of Christ is *His Voice.* You must recognise and hearken to (obey) His voice. It is in doing this that your safety is assured.  Today, we want to see another responsibility of the Shepherd over His sheep.  To him the porter opens; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calls his own sheep by name, *and leads them out.* John 10:3.  He called you, that He might lead you. It is not enough for you to hear or recognise His Voice, you must allow Him to lead you as well.  Romans 8:14 says *For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.*   The Spirit leading you determines the family you belong to. Basically,  there are only two families in this world - the family of God, and the family of satan. In other words, we can say the Kingdom...

NEVER FORGET

Text:  Psalm 103:2.  Bless the LORD, my soul, and never forget any of his benefits: Psalm 103:1 says, _Bless the LORD, my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name._  Every well-meaning child of God should speak to his soul the way David did here. Not only should your soul constantly bless God, everything within you should too. There is a high tendency to be ungrateful to God. There's a high tendency to forget His benefits. When we read the story of the Isrealites, it's very easy to point out their numerous errors. But the  reason their story was documented was so we can learn from their errors and avoid it. The Isrealites started murmuring against God the moment they  encountered a challenge on their way to the promised land. They completely forgot all of God's benefits to them in Egypt. They completely forgot the way God rescued them from all the ten plagues that rampaged Egypt. When they needed water, they completely forgot how God parted the red s...

LIVING FOR THE FUTURE

Text : *2 Corinthians 4:18* While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. Your today was once the future you saw yesterday. You must  know that the future is always your destination. It is therefore important for you to carefully live your today so that you can enter into a glorious and desired future. It is clear from the study text that the things which are seen are temporal and the things which are not seen are eternal. Today, we shall be looking at one of the things which you don't see-"The Future".  Ability to live in the future and to know the future is what makes God eternal. So, anyone who could live for that which is not seen, has also become an eternal being. As a child of God, it is  wise for you to live for the future. For instance, when God told Abraham that in his seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, it is possible...

BLESSING AND CURSING

Text :  James 3:10.  From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. It should not be like this, my brothers! In his letter, Apostle James was addressing believers all over about basic conducts of life. One of these conducts boils down to the use of our tongues. In His sermon on the Mount,  Jesus Christ, our Master also gave a caution on this issue as regards to judgement day-  *But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.* (Matthew 12:36). This goes to show that as a child of God, you should be careful what you say because you will be held responsible for everything you say. Again, Jesus said in Matthew 12:37 that, by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned. If your words are this powerful, wisdom demands that you pick them carefully.  As a new believer in Christ, one of the cautions the Holy Spirit gives is in your utterances. But as you progress in you...

ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER

Text:  James 2:18. But someone may say, “You have faith, and I have actions.” Show me your faith without any actions, and I will show you my faith by my actions.  *If every Christian practices what the Bible teaches, this world would be a better place for all to live in.* Unfortunately, what we have is more of professing Christians than practicing Christians. From the name, a professing Christian is anyone who claims to be a Christian without being Christ-like in actions or behavior. A practicing Christian is what we are called to be. A Christ-like individual who practices what he preaches or what the Bible preaches. Have you ever encountered professing Christians before, with their very appalling character? They make you wonder what type of Jesus they follow. A true Christian is not known by how long he prays and neither is he known by how frequently he goes to church. A Christian is known by his  lifestyle in the neighborhood, at his place of work, and among families an...
