The scripture is quite intentional in specifically recording these two kinds of  infirmities amongst others.   Before the arrival of Jesus in the temple, the temple had become a den of thieves, it was no longer a house of prayer. A “den of thieves” is a place where people who steal or cheat gather, hide, or operate from. So, what Jesus was saying in essence is that, the place where people ought to gain access to God has now become a place where  corrupt people hide and operate from. These descriptions pass for what the church of God represents or should represent today. When Jesus Christ entered into the temple of God, and cast out all the people that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, he said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but you have made it a den of thieves.(Matthew 21:12-13) It is clear that the house of God which was supposed to be a house of prayer had been turned into a den of thieves. It has become a place of buying and selling, and no more a place of connecting with the LORD. ...
