Text: Proverbs 6:9–11

“How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man.”*

This passage is a direct and urgent call to awake, not just physically, but spiritually and purposefully.

Our text today confronts laziness with a piercing question: How long? This is a reminder that delay has consequences. This is a wake up call to the fact that, comfort can quietly become a trap.

*It’s easy to remain in a state of complacency, putting off what God has called you to do till later time* . Whether it’s our spiritual growth, personal responsibilities, or divine assignments, procrastination robs us of progress.

The verse 10 of Proverbs 6 paints a subtle picture: “a little sleep, a little slumber…” It doesn’t seem harmful at first. But that’s how decline often begins,: small compromises here and there, when repeated over time, it brings fatal failure. Spiritual dullness rarely happens overnight; it creeps in gradually.

Verse 11 delivers the outcome: poverty and lack arriving suddenly, like a thief or an armed man. This isn’t just about financial poverty, it can also mean spiritual emptiness, missed opportunities, and unfulfilled purposes.

Are there areas in your life where you’ve become spiritually sleepy? What have you been postponing that God is urging you to act on? It's time to wake up from your slumber, deliver yourself now from laziness and procrastination before it's too late.

God wants us to be diligent in all that we lay our hands to do, and He promised to bless the works of our hands.

As you awake from your slumber today, hear the pronouncement of God upon your life -
*The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.* Deuteronomy 28:12.

 *BIBLE READING:*

Proverbs 6:6-11.

 *PRAYER FOCUS:*

Father LORD, please, awaken my heart from every form of laziness and procrastination. Give me discipline, diligence, and a sense of urgency to pursue Your will in Jesus name.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

WAY MAKER-2

Text: Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth: shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness,  and rivers in the desert. God promised that He will do a new thing for you, and that He will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. He has done this before, and He will do it again even in your own life.  When the children of Israel left Egypt, the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them, encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.(Exodus 14:9). Just like anyone would react, the Isrealites became so fearful because there is neither way forward nor back for them to escape. Before them was the red sea, behind them were the Egyptian armies. They became perplexed and began to murmur against Moses. It is possible you are also in a situation like the Israelites- No way forward, and no way behind. Things may appear like you are ...

TIME IN ETERNITY

Text : Psalms 90:12  So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom._  Our God dwells in eternity past, present and future. In between these phases of eternity, He created man to dwell in Time. When man sinned, he fell short of God's plan, and death came in.(Rom 3:23). Death therefore short circuit man's life in eternity. This is the reason Jesus.came.  He had to come into TIME in order to remove the PAUSE  death HAD on man.  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16.  Every man born into this world automatically becomes an eternal being. The question therefore is, which side of eternity would such a man dwell? Everlasting life or Everlasting condemnation? Time is an opportunity given to man to trade for eternal life. You have limited time to exchange for eternal life in eternity.  Time offers you the opportunity to ga...
