TEXT: Ephesians 1:2
“May grace and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, be yours!”
Whenever Apostle Paul addressed believers as saints, his greeting was never casual. Almost without exception, it was accompanied by the powerful declaration of grace and peace.
This was not merely a polite opening, it was a spiritual truth and a prophetic reminder of what defines the believer’s life in Christ.
Grace and peace are not optional extras for the Christian; they are foundational realities. *A saint who does not walk in grace and peace will struggle, no matter how sincere their faith may be.*
Grace is God’s undeserved favor, His divine enablement that empowers us to live above sin, fear, and weakness. It is by grace that we are saved, sustained, and strengthened.
Grace reminds us that our standing before God is not based on our performance but on Christ’s finished work.
Peace, on the other hand, is the inward assurance and rest that flows from being rightly positioned with God. It is not the absence of trouble, but the presence of God’s calm in the midst of it. *The Peace of God guards the heart and mind, keeping the believer stable in an unstable world.*
Paul understood that without grace, believers would fall into self-effort and frustration. Without peace, they would be vulnerable to anxiety, confusion, and spiritual burnout. That is why he consistently declared both together.
A saint’s life must be characterised by grace and peace. When these are lacking:
Faith becomes a struggle instead of a pleasurable walk.
Obedience becomes a burden instead of joy.
Ministry becomes exhausting instead of life-giving.
Grace enables you to walk, and peace keeps you steady while you walk.
Are you relying on God’s grace or striving in your own strength?
Is your heart resting in God’s peace or troubled by fear and uncertainty?
Remember, grace and peace are not things you beg for, they are gifts already released to you in Christ.
Your responsibility is to receive them by faith and walk in the consciousness of your identity as a saint.
