TEXT: Hebrews 12:1–2
“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith…”*
It is important to understand that distractions do not always come as sin. Many times, they come as weights, things that are not wrong in themselves, yet they slow us down and drain our strength.
A weight is anything that reduces your speed, clarity, and sensitivity to God. It could be excessive engagements, unnecessary relationships, endless social media consumption or engagement, or even good activities done at the wrong time.
*Not everything that is permissible is profitable. Not everything good is God’s will for you*
Distractions thrive where there is no clear vision. When you are not sure of where you are going, everything will look important. .
Once God shows you your race, you must deliberately lay aside everything that does not align with it.
The writer of Hebrews admonishes us to look unto Jesus. Focus is not merely about what you avoid; it is about who you behold.
The more you fix your gaze on Christ, the less attractive distractions become. Intimacy with Jesus sharpens discernment and strengthens discipline.
This year, you must learn to say no without guilt and yes without fear. Protect your time, guard your heart, and channel your energy toward what advances God’s agenda for your life.
*Destiny demands focus.*
*You cannot fulfill purpose while entertaining distractions.*
You must choose daily and deliberately, what deserves your attention.
*PRAYER FOCUS:*
Father LORD, help me to lay aside every weight and every distraction. Fix my eyes on Jesus and grant me the discipline to run my race with focus and endurance, in Jesus name.
