COSTLY ASSUMPTION

TEXT:  Luke 2:44

But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance.

Though the word 'assumption' was never directly mentioned in the bible at any point in time, but it occurred many times with different characters in the bible.

*Assumption is believing or acting upon that which is not true.*

The very first costly assumption was committed by our first parents - Adam and Eve.

The devil is the inventor of assumption. He deceived Adam and Eve, and made them assume that they could enter into a better estate than where they were or who God has made them to be.(Gen. 3:1-7)

Having gone up to Jerusalem for worship, Joseph and Mary assumed that Jesus, their 12 year old boy was returning home with them. They were not cognisant of the fact that he had stayed back in Jerusalem.

In the same manner, many are in church today who assume  that Jesus is with them. They assume that because of their titles and positions in the church, they have a place with God. They assume that God's presence is with them because they are experiencing abundant supply of resources. They are mistaken and have been deceived by the devil.

As for Joseph and Mary, having travelled a day's journey, they stopped assuming Jesus was with them. At that point it was easy for them to retrace their steps in search for Jesus. Even at this, it took them three days to find Jesus. This was the cost of assumption.

You must stop assuming things are okay. You must stop assuming for people's actions and why they behave towards you the way they do. Simply halt and ask questions in order to resolve and dissolve your assumptions.

Going forward, I beseech you not to assume anything, always find out that which is true and hold onto it.

*Don't assume anything, always find out that which is true and lay hold on it.*

 *PRAYER FOCUS*

Father LORD, please grant me grace never to live in assumption going forward in Jesus name.

Luke 2:41-46.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

WAY MAKER-2

Text: Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth: shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness,  and rivers in the desert. God promised that He will do a new thing for you, and that He will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. He has done this before, and He will do it again even in your own life.  When the children of Israel left Egypt, the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them, encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.(Exodus 14:9). Just like anyone would react, the Isrealites became so fearful because there is neither way forward nor back for them to escape. Before them was the red sea, behind them were the Egyptian armies. They became perplexed and began to murmur against Moses. It is possible you are also in a situation like the Israelites- No way forward, and no way behind. Things may appear like you are ...

TIME IN ETERNITY

Text : Psalms 90:12  So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom._  Our God dwells in eternity past, present and future. In between these phases of eternity, He created man to dwell in Time. When man sinned, he fell short of God's plan, and death came in.(Rom 3:23). Death therefore short circuit man's life in eternity. This is the reason Jesus.came.  He had to come into TIME in order to remove the PAUSE  death HAD on man.  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16.  Every man born into this world automatically becomes an eternal being. The question therefore is, which side of eternity would such a man dwell? Everlasting life or Everlasting condemnation? Time is an opportunity given to man to trade for eternal life. You have limited time to exchange for eternal life in eternity.  Time offers you the opportunity to ga...
