Text: Matthew 7:13
Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.
The way that leads to destruction is broad, so it can allow for anything. A broad way does not restrict a person. There is no need for any form of devotion, consecration or commitment when you are on the broad way.
Please be very careful of any Christianity that relieves you from a disciplined and consecrated life. Our salvation is a call unto holiness and deeper walk with the LORD.
You'll remember that Jesus' invitation unto all that are weary and heavy laden is an invitation unto the narrow way. It's an invitation to rest, but for you to enter that rest you must take up His yoke and burden. (Matthew 11:28-30).
The narrow way does not permit any extra burden outside the burden of Christ which is light. Hence, the scripture instructed us to lay aside every weight and sin which so easily ensnares us. (Hebrews 12:2).
The narrow way is only found by a few. Jesus said, *"Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it."* (Matthew 7:14). It is important for every believer in our Lord Jesus Christ to follow our master. That Jesus carried his own cross and died on it for us to be free from sin, satan and death, but that does not free us from carrying our own cross, rather we are to carry it on a daily basis.
He said to his disciples, *"...If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me." Matthew 16:24.* It's only the cross, your own cross that is allowed on the narrow way. Nothing else is allowed. *The narrow way that leads to life, is a way of death- death to flesh, and sin.*
If you are willing to follow Jesus Christ in the narrow way, you must be ready to continually deny yourself and carry your cross.
If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.(Matthew 16:24). Note that Jesus issued this statement to his disciples and not to the multitude.
As you keep growing in your relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ as a true disciple, demands will be laid on you in order to stay fit and worthy in the narrow way. Receive the Grace to be faithful to the end.
