Text: Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
Yesterday, we considered how we automatically generate thoughts within our hearts due to the falling nature of man. Genesis 6:5 highlighted this truth about thoughts generated from within. "...the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was] great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Today we shall be looking at thoughts that come from without.
There are different sources of thoughts from without. This includes projection from the devil and his cohorts, surrounding circumstances and words from others.
It is possible you've always thought that the encounter our Lord Jesus had in the wilderness after his 40 days of prayer and fasting with the devil was a face to face encounter. But that's far from the reality. Jesus' encounter with the devil in the wilderness was a thought encounter. All the three temptations were thrown at our Lord Jesus Christ via His thoughts.
Jesus Christ conquered the devil with scriptures
which He had earlier stored in His heart.
In the same manner, When you store God's word in your heart, you are simply keeping a very solid watch against satanic invasion into your life.
God's word affirmed the importance of storing God's word in your heart. *"...I have written unto you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.(1 John 2:14).* Until you allow God's word take a deep root into your heart, such words will never profit you.
Let God's word be deeply rooted in your heart, and you shall always overcome the enemy and his onslaught against your soul.
