WALKING WORTHY

Text:Ephesians 4:1

I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called.

The Lord has called every believer with a holy calling in accordance to His purpose. In 2 Timothy 1:9, the scripture says that God  has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,

Having received the call, a responsibility is now laid on us to walk worthy of the call. The first thing we shall be considering today is to consider what the call is.

The reason many believers are confused today is simply because they do not know what  their calling is. This was why apostle Paul prayed for the church in Ephesus that the eyes of their understanding might be enlightened. (Ephesians 1:18).

*Unless a believer's eyes are enlightened, he cannot know the hope of his calling. And if he does not know the hope of his calling, he cannot find REST for his soul*

Our first call as a believer is not a call to do something or run a particular errand for God but a call to become  and to partake of God's glory, holiness, and salvation.

He called us to obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
*"...God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth, to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.(2 Thessalonians 2:13-14).*

Secondly, He has called us into His Kingdom and glory "...that you would walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.
(1 Thessalonians 2:12).

Our first calling supercedes every other call. It is a call to come back to God. It is a call to become as the first born- our Lord Jesus Christ. This is the reason discipleship is key. It is the platform for which we come into our calling.

The invitation Jesus gave in Matthew 11:28 is     the access door into our calling. It is a call unto REST. *"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28).* This rest for the soul can be attained by first of all taking a step to come unto Jesus in order to LEARN of and from him. He said, "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.(Matthew 11:29).

Having come unto Him, we embrace His yoke and learn from Him, then we shall find  rest for our souls- This is SALVATION.  Hebrews 4:10 says "For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His".

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

WAY MAKER-2

Text: Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth: shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness,  and rivers in the desert. God promised that He will do a new thing for you, and that He will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. He has done this before, and He will do it again even in your own life.  When the children of Israel left Egypt, the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them, encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.(Exodus 14:9). Just like anyone would react, the Isrealites became so fearful because there is neither way forward nor back for them to escape. Before them was the red sea, behind them were the Egyptian armies. They became perplexed and began to murmur against Moses. It is possible you are also in a situation like the Israelites- No way forward, and no way behind. Things may appear like you are ...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...
