THE LOVING FATHER 2

Text : Luke 15:31

“His father told him, ‘My child, you are always with me, and everything I have is yours.

Another character that is rarely reviewed in this all-revealing story of the prodigal son is the elder brother.

The elder brother who had been very diligent at home, came back from the field to meet a feast thrown in honour of his prodigal brother.

He was totally disappointed in his father who lavished his love on an undeserving son.  The older son became angry and wouldn’t go into the house. So his father came out and began to plead with him. Luke 15:28.

He said to his father, ‘Listen! All these years I’ve worked like a slave for you. I’ve never disobeyed a command of yours. Yet you’ve never given me so much as a young goat for a festival so I could celebrate with my friends. Luke 15:29.

Like the elder brother, we sometimes  murmur and complain when we see good things happen to backsliding Christians who managed to trace their steps back to the Lord. The carnal nature in us want them to be punished for their bad ways, not just in heaven but even here on earth.

Instead of rejoicing that our lost brother or sister has been found, we choose to castigate them. Instead of showing love, we prefer to send them out into the enemy's camp.

Another reason for this misgivings is, the elder brother refused to tap into all of the privileges that he's entitled to as a child of God.

In response to his open display of self-righteous and childishness, the father says,  ‘My child, you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. Luke 15:31.

Beloved, if you are always in fellowship with the Father, then, all that He has is yours.

Don't be deceived into believing that God will love you more because you are living a pauper's life. You have access to your Father's riches right here on earth.

Our Father is unlimited. Ask Him for whatever you need today and your Joy shall be full.

*So far you haven’t asked for anything in my name. Keep asking and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.”* John 16:24.

*BIBLE READING* :

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
