OBEDIENCE IS BETTER THAN EXPERIENCE

TEXT: Luke 5:5.

Simon answered, “Master, we have worked hard all night and caught nothing. But if you say so, I’ll lower the nets.”

Peter and his fellow fishermen were exhausted. They had spent the entire night doing what they knew best — fishing — yet their nets were empty. Their strength had failed, their skill had produced nothing, and their hopes were probably dashed. Then Jesus,  told them to do the very thing they had already tried: “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”

From a human perspective, Jesus’ instruction made little or no sense. Daytime was not ideal for fishing, and they had already proven that no fish were to be found. Yet Peter responded with one of the most powerful declarations of faith in Scripture: “But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”

That simple statement reveals deep trust. Peter chose to shift from relying on his experience to relying on Jesus’ authority. Obedience to Jesus didn’t erase Peter’s fatigue, but it positioned him to witness a miracle. Moments later, his nets overflowed with fish — more than he could handle alone.

We often find ourselves in “empty net” situations. We find ourselves in seasons where our best efforts seem fruitless: prayers unanswered, doors unopened, work unrecognized. In those moments, Jesus sometimes asks us to do the very thing we feel too tired, too discouraged, or too skeptical to try again.

The key is not in the action itself but in who gives the command. *When Jesus speaks, the ordinary becomes extraordinary.* What once failed can flourish.

Like Peter, we are invited to respond: “Because You say so, I will.” It’s a declaration of faith that surrenders control and trusts God’s timing over our own understanding.

*Obedience to Jesus is often the bridge between emptiness and abundance.* One step of faith can turn a night of failure into a testimony of God’s power.

Father, help me to trust Your word above my doubts and fears. Give me the strength to obey even when it doesn’t make sense in Jesus name.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
