DON'T SEEK YOUR OWN

TEXT:1 Corinthians 10:24

Let no one seek his own, but each one the other's well-being

When you truly love your neighbor and the brethren, you will always seek their well being, and not only yours.

As a true child of God, you must not say, "I don't care whose gut is hurt" or " I don't care what people feel about what I say or do".

While you must not be a man-pleaser, you must not also offend people by how you live your life.

By this, God wants you to always seek the interest of your neighbor and the brethren within the body of Christ.
For instance
1 Corinthians 8:13 says, "...if what I eat causes another believer to sin, I will never eat meat again as long as I live—for I don't want to cause another believer to stumble."

He further encouraged believers not to give offense *" Give no offense, either to the Jews or to the Greeks or to the church of God, just as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved." (1 Corinthians 10:32-33).*

The three categories of people you must not give offense to are: The Jews (custodians of the Mosaic law), the Greeks (unbelievers in the world) and the church of God.

Though the Jews are yet to receive the Messiah as their Lord and Savior, but we have a responsibility towards them. We must show them how life in "grace and truth" prevails against life in the law.

You must also not give offense to the gentiles. These include every mankind (apart from the Jewish nation) that is yet to receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We must look out for them by carefully preaching, and  modelling Christ and His way to them.

Finally, as a believer you must not give offense to the church of God. *The price of the church is the blood of Jesus Christ.* You must not do anything to hurt the church that Jesus bought with His precious blood. The church here would mean your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Church in this context is not limited to  brethren within your denomination or  four walls of your worship centre, it does mean every true believer in your space at every point in time.

May the Lord's grace continue to increase in your life so that you can always seek the interest of others like Jesus Christ did and not only your own.

*BIBLE READING* :

1 Corinthians 10:23-33.

 *PRAYER FOCUS*

Father Lord, fill my heart with love for the Jews, the gentiles and the church of God in Jesus name.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

WAY MAKER-2

Text: Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth: shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness,  and rivers in the desert. God promised that He will do a new thing for you, and that He will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. He has done this before, and He will do it again even in your own life.  When the children of Israel left Egypt, the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them, encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.(Exodus 14:9). Just like anyone would react, the Isrealites became so fearful because there is neither way forward nor back for them to escape. Before them was the red sea, behind them were the Egyptian armies. They became perplexed and began to murmur against Moses. It is possible you are also in a situation like the Israelites- No way forward, and no way behind. Things may appear like you are ...

TIME IN ETERNITY

Text : Psalms 90:12  So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom._  Our God dwells in eternity past, present and future. In between these phases of eternity, He created man to dwell in Time. When man sinned, he fell short of God's plan, and death came in.(Rom 3:23). Death therefore short circuit man's life in eternity. This is the reason Jesus.came.  He had to come into TIME in order to remove the PAUSE  death HAD on man.  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16.  Every man born into this world automatically becomes an eternal being. The question therefore is, which side of eternity would such a man dwell? Everlasting life or Everlasting condemnation? Time is an opportunity given to man to trade for eternal life. You have limited time to exchange for eternal life in eternity.  Time offers you the opportunity to ga...
