MULTITUDE AND DISCIPLES

And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:

The followers of Jesus are made up of two groups: the MULTITUDE and the disciples. Basically, what the multitude are looking for is miracles.
What distinguishes the disciples from the rest of the people is their readiness and willingness to be taught by the master.

In Matthew chapter five, just like it happened on different occasions, Jesus saw the multitude, He set Himself on the mountain to teach, but it was recorded that only His disciples went to Him to be taught.

*If you cannot be taught by Jesus Christ, you are not His disciples.* The Hallmark of a genuine Christian is his willingness to hear and learn from the master's feet.

If you are a Sunday, Sunday kind of Christian, you are among the multitude, if you are the type that is always absent at Bible study, Sunday school and every other program that is geared towards building you up spiritually, you are in the multitude and not a disciple.

A multitude kind of Christian always look for miracles in every meeting. He goes to different mountains and different men of God in search of miracles. Once he didn't get this, he stops following Jesus.

After Jesus had fed the multitude with bread and fish, the next day they were looking for Jesus until they found Him. But  hear what Jesus told them, He said, Truly, I tell all of you emphatically, you are looking for me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate the loaves and were completely satisfied.
Do not work for food that perishes but for food that lasts for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set his seal on him.” John 6:26-27.

God cannot commit eternal substance to multitude, the highest they will get are earthly miracles. *The reason for miracles is to make you seek the Giver and not the gift. It's a misplaced priority to keep searching for gifts without paying attention to the giver.*

When you have the Giver,  you automatically have the gift, but when you only get the gift, you will never be satisfied, because gifts cannot satisfy all your need.

Move from being a multitude-christian to a disciple today by learning at the master's feet everyday.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
