JUDAS ISCARIOT

Text: John 13:17.

If you understand these things, how blessed you are if you put them into practice!

Judas Iscariot needs no introduction. He was popular for many wrong reasons. During the earthly ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ, He appointed twelve disciples whom He will pour Himself into and who will in turn disciple the rest of the world.

By divine arrangement, Judas Iscariot was one of these twelve. Like the rest of the eleven disciples (who later became Apostles), Judas Iscariot was chosen by Jesus Christ Himself. He had the privilege of being in the inner caucus of Jesus Christ. He had the privilege of seeing Jesus Christ face to face. He had the privilege of sitting under Jesus' teachings. He had the privilege of witnessing first hand all the miracles that Jesus Christ performed. But what did he do with all these privileges? He wasted them all.

Judas Iscariot refused to change from his old ways before Jesus called him. He was probably a thief before Jesus called him and he continued to steal even after he had become the disciple of Christ. Here's John's account about him in John 12:6, _He said this, not because he cared about the destitute, but because he was a thief. He was in charge of the moneybag and would steal what was put into it._ Judas Iscariot was not just a thief, he was a thief stealing God's money.

Before you castigate Judas, examine yourself in the light of the following questions :

**Are you a disciple of Jesus Christ?*

**Have you been chosen by Christ amidst your family and your peers?*

**Have you been hearing the teachings of Christ for sometime now?*

**Have you repented from your old ways?*

It's not enough to claim to be a follower of Christ, you must practice what you are being taught. Matthew 3:8 says, *Produce fruit that is consistent with repentance!* A follower of Christ will not just hear the teachings of Christ, but he will be careful to do(Practice ) what he is hearing.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
