Text: Proverbs 17:6.
Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.
One major problem in the home, society, community, nations and in our world today is the absence of Father. Though there are fathers, but there are few correct or ideal Fathers as intended by God.
The world we live has wrongly defined fatherhood for us. It has erroneously raised a wrong standard of what and who a father is.
As we prepare to celebrate Fathers' day tomorrow, the Lord would have us lay out his foundational plans and standard for a father.
A father is one who generates, produces or originates biologically, spiritually or intellectually. He is more than one who gives birth to another biologically. In fact, to be a biological father is about the first and lowest level of fatherhood. *Until you are able to lead your children to God, you are not yet a real father as far as God is concerned.*
Abram was called 'Exalted father' before he even had a child. His name was changed to Father of multitude or Father of many Nations even when he had only one child.
It is therefore clear that God's ideal Father is one who can generate another life biologically or spiritually for the purpose of raising such offspring for Him.
For instance, there are many children in our world today who will never be able to identify a biological father. Many women now resolve to sperm bank in order to purchase human semen for the purpose of artificial insemination. So, you can imagine that there are many children in our world today without a known father.
Meanwhile, another couple may decide to adopt an orphan and raise such under a home. On the other hand, there are many young men impregnating young ladies out there who are not willing to take responsibility of fatherhood.
When God is talking about Father, He really meant business.
In the beginning God created the first human Father -Adam. It is good to note that every man is a potential father.
Adam, having not had a child yet, threw all his children unborn into bondage of sin. Thanks be unto Jesus our Lord, He has brought us back to the Father of glory. (1 Peter 1:3).
If you have been given the opportunity to bring another life into this world, you must carefully follow God through Jesus Christ before you can be able to do Fatherhood well.
*It takes a father who is under Father God to Father a child in God's own way.*
