THE RIGHTEOUS

Text: Psalms 92:12.

The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

God doesn't say or do things haphazardly. He has a purpose for everything He says and does, and the same goes for every comparison He makes.

If He likened us to any animal or plant, it is because of the inherent nature of such creatures. For instance, God called His children sheep and the false prophets, wolves. Matthew 7:15. Obviously,  this is because of what these animals represent.

At no point in the scripture did God likened His children to the serpent or any of such cunning and dirty creatures, except when He told us to be wise as Serpent and be harmless as doves, Matthew 10:16.

He painstakingly used these comparison for obvious reasons- their inherent characteristics.

Hence, wisdom demands that, as a good Bible student  you should take time to look into whatever animal or plant symbolism that God uses.

Our text today likened the righteous to a palm tree and a cedar in Lebanon. Palm trees are elegant and beautiful trees which symbolises among other things, :

1. Resilience
2. Victory
3. Fertility
4. Peace
5. Prosperity.

Also, generally,  cedar in Lebanon symbolises holiness and peace.

The only requirement to possessing all of these beautiful qualities and blessings is that you are a righteous man.

Psalm one says, *the righteous shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he does shall prosper.* (Psalms 1:3.)

A righteous man is described in Psalms 1:1-2. Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

When you are careful to observe what this scripture says, you are a blessed man and you will keep flourishing like the palm tree and like a cedar in Lebanon.

 *PRAYER FOCUS*

1.) Father God, I receive the grace to walk according to your  precepts that your blessings may continually rest upon me in Jesus name.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
