LESSONS FROM A MOTHER HEN.

Text : Luke 13:34. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones to death those who have been sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you people were unwilling!*  The Bible frequently encourages us to learn from animals, not by adopting their behavior directly, but by observing their behaviors, diligence, and wisdom; and gleaning goodly wisdom from them. Today, we shall continue to look into the behavioral pattern of a mother hen and glean one or two wisdom from her. 1.) *Love and Protection:*  The hen fiercely protects her chicks from predators, demonstrating a strong bond of love and care. This emphasizes the importance of nurturing and defending those we love and care for. It's very appalling to see how some parents are so nonchalant in the raising of the goodly children which God has committed into their hands.   *It is your responsibility as a parent to love and shield your war...

PRAY

Text : Luke 18:1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; Prayerlessness is one major problem of many Christians today.  While so many find it easier to spend time with their phones than praying, some others pray, but they pray amiss. If Jesus said that men ought always to pray, then we must take the matter of prayer more seriously. From Jesus' statement, it is obvious that *if you are not praying, you are fainting.*  So, *you are either a praying Christian or a fainting Christian.*  Sometimes, praying can appear to be a tedious work. Some even say that prayer is a work. Yes it could be a tiring work for many who are carnal. It is a scary work for carnal christians as well. But, for people who always want to experience victory in their walk with the Lord, it is a sweet work of Faith. See the testimony given about Epaphras:  _“Epaphras, who is one of you and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends greetings. He is always ...

DISTRACTIONS

TEXT : *Luke 10:41&42*  And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. One of the greatest weapons the devil employs in attacking believers is distraction. He does this in order to take believer's focus and attention away from the most important thing. Just like any believer, Mary received Jesus into her home, but instead of giving attention to the most important personality in her home, she became grossly distracted in the bid to serve Jesus Christ. If you do not take heed and pay attention to yourself, you may sincerely loose yourself in the course of serving Jesus Christ. While Martha was busy making efforts to serve the table, Mary was busy eating from the very table (Jesus Christ) that Martha was running helter skelter to serve.  It is important for you to know that *Jesus Christ is more interested and places mo...

POWER OF UNITY 2

Text :  Genesis 11:6. The LORD said, “Look! They are one people with the same language for all of them, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. Nothing that they have a mind to do will be impossible for them! To stay united as a group, a family, an organization, or even as member of the body of Christ, it takes effort on the part of individual member. Ephesians 4:3 says, *Do your best to maintain the unity of the Spirit by means of the bond of peace.*  The question is, are you really doing your best to maintain peace everywhere you go. When the devil wanted to stop the early disciples from propagating the gospel, he sowed a seed of discord among them. (Acts 6:1). Thank God the Apostles were wise enough to quickly nip that division in the bud. (Acts 6:2-7).   No family can thrive to the best of their abilities if they are not united. No local assembly can succeed according to the will of God if they are disunited. Amos 3:3 posed a candid question, it says, Can...

POWER OF UNITY

Text :  Genesis 11:6. The LORD said, “Look! They are one people with the same language for all of them, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. Nothing that they have a mind to do will be impossible for them! There was a time when the entire earth spoke a common language with an identical vocabulary.  As people migrated westward, they came across a plain in the region of Shinar and settled there. (Genesis 11:1-2). They decided to build a city and a tower, with its summit in the heavens, in order to make a name for themselves so they won’t be scattered over the surface of the whole earth.”  God's specific instructions to man from the very beginning was for man to fill the earth, subdue it and spread over the earth. But by Genesis eleven, man had decided to do the exact opposite. They said, “Come on! Let’s build ourselves a city and a tower, with its summit in the heavens, and let’s make a name for ourselves so we won’t be scattered over the surface of the whol...

WHERE HAVE YOU TAKEN MY LORD?

Text: John 20:15  Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?" She, supposing Him to be the gardener, said to Him, "Sir, if You have carried Him away, tell me where You have laid Him, and I will take Him away." Mary Magdalene in whom the Lord Jesus Christ cast out seven demons came very early on the first day of the week to the tomb, all to find out that the stone had been rolled away; and that the Lord had been supposedly taken away. She stood right in front of the Sepulcher crying-"where have you taken my Lord?". While Mary was still weeping,  Peter and John came to the Sepulcher, they entered into the Sepulcher and simply left with a testimony of beholding napkin and handkerchief but not the Lord. If Peter and John were to start ministry from what they saw, they would have started the mantle ministry just like many have majored in even today.  As for Mary, she stood still, weeping and asking anyone who cares to listen- 'Whe...

THREE THINGS JESUS KNEW-2.

Text: John 13:3  Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;  *Your life is moulded and defined by the things you know.* The kind of rest and fellowship that Jesus Christ enjoyed  during His earthly ministry was as a result of what He knew.  Today, the ministry of Jesus as our high priest is to provide us succour that we might know what He knew and how He walked during His earthly life and ministry. Today, we shall begin to look at the three things Jesus knew in our study text one after the other. First Jesus knew that the Father had given all things into His hands. This knowledge did bring a huge success to the ministry and life of our  Lord Jesus Christ. He once said, "All things are delivered unto me of my Father...". He also said in Matthew 28:18 that all power is given unto him in heaven and in earth. As a follower of Jesus Christ, you must be well established in the fact that all things...

THREE THINGS JESUS KNEW

Text: John 13:3  Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God; Jesus Christ is the only one in history that ever came from God and went back to God. That's the reason we must not place Him side by side  any other religious leader on earth. He is not and never would He be in the class of any religious leader. This is because He is not a religious leader Himself, He is the Son of God! He is God! and there is none like Him. Jesus Christ therefore is all that our world needs. He is the only one that's worth following, because He is the only one who knows the Way to eternal life. Infact, He is the Way Himself. (John 14:6).  Jesus Christ knew that the Father had committed all things into His hands, He understood where He came from, and where He was going to.  This season of Easter affords us the opportunity to remember  the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It reminds us that Jesus lives ...

HARMLESS WISDOM 2

Text :  Matthew 10:16. “Behold, I send you out as sheep among wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. Jesus said you should be wise like serpent but not to act like serpent. The word “serpent” is the Greek word ophis, and it simply describes a snake of any type, but it is used here as a sign of cunningness or cleverness.  Generally, the snake is thought of as being evil. So the question is, why will Jesus Christ use such being to make His point. Well, I believe this has more to do with its characteristics. Let’s consider the behavior of serpents in order to glean some wisdom from this creature. 1.) *Ability to blend in:* Serpents blend into the environment when they move into a new territory. Rather than announce their presence, they lay low, stay quiet, and blend into their surroundings. In fact, you could walk right past a snake and not know you’re close to it! When God calls you to do something new — to move into a new territory or seize a new opportuni...

TIED UP-2

Text :  Matthew 21:1.  “ Go into the village ahead of you. At once you will find a donkey tied up and a colt with it. Untie them, and bring them to me. There are many boys and girls on our streets today who have become a menace to the society simply because they  refused to be tied down by their parents or they have no responsible parent to tie them up. As a parent, it is your responsibility to raise and train up your children. This responsibility includes seeing to their physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. However, not many parents are playing their roles as they should. The result is what we see as streetism, armed robbery, prostitution etc in teenage boys and girls today. A child that is not well brought up will grow to become a troublesome wife who can't submit to her husband, or a husband that can't manage his home well. It takes a person who is tied to God's instructions to be released by God into manifestation. Mark 3:13 to 14 says,  Jesus Christ...

TIED UP!

Text :  Matthew 21:1.  “Go into the village ahead of you. At once you will find a donkey tied up and a colt with it. Untie them, and bring them to me.  It was prophesied long time ago that the saviour will have a triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Zechariah 9:9 says, “Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion;   cry out, daughter of Jerusalem! Look! Your king is coming to you.   He is righteous, and he is able to save. He is humble, and is riding on a colt, the foal of a donkey." In the fullness of time, Jesus sent His disciples on an errand in fulfilment of this prophecy. Today, we want to look at what this donkey and colt symbolize. Primarily, donkeys are work animals which are used as means of transportation and for luggage carrying. So, Jesus needed to ride to Jerusalem in fulfilment of prophecy, but He can't obviously use a strayed donkey. And this is where the tied donkey came in. Today, Jesus is still looking for who to ride on in order to fulfill His man...

ANTIDOTE TO PRIDE

Text: Philippians  2:3   Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.   The first antidote to pride is for you to  know that the path to greatness in God's kingdom is servanthood. Jesus said to His disciples, "...whoever desires to become great among you, he must be the servant of others..." To become the servant of others simply means that you should serve others. When your desire is always centered on serving others, then attention on  self and pride will fizzle away. Today, we shall be looking at the second antidote to pride.  Unlike the world's system, the scriptures is asking us to esteem others better than ourselves. This is a tall order, and only those who are dead to self can do this. The thought that conquers pride is that which esteem others better than oneself. It takes humility to come into this realm. Only a humble man could esteem others better than himself.  It is...

PRIDE- 2

Text: Proverbs 16:18.  Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.  *Wherever and whenever you sight pride, just know for sure that destruction is not far away.*  We saw how Lucifer was cut down to the earth after the mention of his five  "I's" in the book of Isaiah 14:13-14. In the same vein, many have exhausted God's grace upon their lives through excessive attention on themselves(Pride). The number- five (5) symbolises GRACE, the moment a man focuses on himself, he simply exhausts all of God's grace upon his life.  A proud man is a man that's lacking in God's grace. No matter the seeming prosperity or anointing such man possesses, it's just a matter of time, such prosperity or anointing will fizzle away. While a proud man is lacking in God's grace, a humble man abounds in grace and dwells under the mighty hand of God, and he shall be exalted in due season. (1 Peter 5:5). The second indicator of pride in one's life is s...

PRIDE

Text: Proverbs 16:18.  Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall. Pride a major but subtle weapon of the devil against God's people. Devil himself is a proud being, and that's the reason he was sent out from God's presence. Hence, the devil is the father of all the children of pride. The scriptures says "He beholds all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride." (Job 41:34).  Having identified the devil as the father of the proud, let's begin to look into some of the features he exhibits according to the Bible, Isaiah chapter 14 and Ezekiel 28. I. *'I'* -  Anytime you hear a man saying too many 'I's, that means such one  focuses on himself more than necessary, and that can be an indicator of pride. In Isaiah chapter 14, verses13 to 14, the devil used the word  'I' five times. And what follows after was his demotion. He was brought down to hell.(Isaiah 14:15). Pride always go before the fall. One of...
