Text: Psalms 28:7
The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
Many Christians tend to be ignorant of God's present help. Man's help appear more real to them than God's help, hence they are unable to receive God's help.
Let's glean a few lessons from the famine story that ravaged Samaria due to the enemy's besiegement. (2King 7).
When God decided to bring an end to the famine and austerity in Israel, He sent his word through Prophet Elisha saying, "Hear the word of the LORD. Thus says the LORD: 'Tomorrow about this time a seah of fine flour shall be sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria....'"
This is God's help for the people of God in Israel. Though, the Lord has spoken of how abundance and surplus will be swallowing up the famine and the austerity in Israel, but the King's personal assistant could not believe the word of the Lord.
Faith towards God is a major key to receiving from the Lord. The scripture says that he that comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.(Hebrews 11:6).
Anyone who finds it difficult to simply believe the very simple word of God cannot receive God's help. Our Father in heaven is always available and willing to help us, but if we are not believing and trusting Him, it will be very difficult to receive from Him.
Considering the prevailing situation in Israel, the King's Personal assistant could not look away from the prevailing situation in order to simply believe God's words with a childlike heart. He replied Elisha saying, "Look, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, could this thing be?"
(2 Kings 7:2). It's such a sorry case for the King's Personal assistant- Help has come but he could not receive it. It happened just as the man of God said, but the King's assistant did not live to enjoy it.
He did not see the possibility of what the Lord has said through His servant.
*Simply receiving God's word and trusting Him with a simple heart is tantamount to receiving God's help.*
God can turn around your situation, no matter how hard it may appear today. You must just be willing to receive His help when you hear His words.
