Text : Ecclesiastes 11:4
He that observes the wind shall not sow; and he that regards the clouds shall not reap.
If you are used to giving seemingly 'genuine' excuse especially when it has to do with your relationship with God and His kingdom, then you may be heading towards danger.
Though, there could be genuine excuse for which you may not be able to do one thing or the other, but you must ensure that you don't tolerate any excuse that may be raising a platform for the enemy in your life.
Jesus Christ likened the kingdom of heaven to a man who has prepared a great supper and invited many. All of them began to give different excuses. Hear their excuses as narrated in the scriptures:
"But they all with one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, 'I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused. And another said, 'I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I ask you to have me excused.' Still another said, 'I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.' (Luke 14:16-19).
Their excuses were centered around land acquisition, business and marriage. These three excuse still appear to be the major drive of human life today. For these three (Property, Business and Marriage matters), men are still excusing themselves from attending God's invitation into His kingdom till date.
Jesus however instructed His followers to seek God's kingdom and His righteousness first! (Matthew 6:33). Don't ever be caught up in the web of pursuing other things at the expense of God's kingdom and His righteousness. Every other thing must come behind the pursuit of the kingdom.
Stop giving excuses why you can't serve the Lord as you ought to, simply clear off those things on your table that are hindering you from giving the LORD the first and paramount position in your life.
All the people that were invited to the great supper lost their place in the kingdom because of this so called legitimate excuse.
May you not lose your place in God due to flimsy excuses in Jesus name.
