Text: Proverbs 22:1
A [good] name is to be chosen rather than great riches, Loving favor rather than silver and gold.
Today we shall be looking at the man Moses who chose a good name over riches.
Moses was raised and brought up as the son of Pharaoh's daughter. He was taught and raised in the way and lifestyle of an Egyptian, an Egyptian prince for that matter.
Somewhere along the line, he soon discovered that he was an Israelite, and by that he was automatically a slave of Pharaoh.
By Faith, Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, (Hebrews 11:24). You also need faith to be able to refuse association or relationship with the wrong company in spite of their juicy offerings.
Moses chose to bear the name of the God of Israel than to chose that of Pharaoh's gods. One thing you must know is that chosing a good name is far better and glorious than choosing riches for yourself.
Sometimes, riches does develop wings and fly away, but good name is always an abiding partner that will see you through unto promotion.
Though Moses hadn't seen Christ before, but the fact that he chose to identify with God's people, the scripture says that he esteems the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.(Hebrews 11:26).
It was no joke that a boy raised up in the palace had to be walking and leading God's people through the wilderness.
*Each time you chose Christ over anything or anyone, then you've just chosing a good name for yourself.*
Keep on choosing Christ, that's the pathway to chosing good name for yourself.
*Bible reading:*
Hebrews 11:23- 29.
