TEXT: Matthew 10:41
He that receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.
The scripture clearly instructed us in First Peter chapter 2 verse 17 to honour all men.
Honour, according to the dictionary simply means
recognition of importance or value; respect; (of someone, usually for being morally upright and/or competent).
To honour a person therefore means to recognise such one as very important or valuable. You honour a person because he or she has something of value to offer you.
Therefore, for every person that
you honour, you receive a commensurate value of inherent importance, reward, blessing, glory and virtue that the person carries.
For instance when you honour your parents, you receive long life; Ephesians 6:2-3. When you honour your husband as a wife, you gain good favour and blessings from him and from the Lord. As a husband, when you honour your wife, your prayers shall not be hindered. (1Peter 3:7). Honouring the spiritual authority over your life gives you divine covering, direction, prosperity and establishment.
As parents, you must also learn to honour your children. Younger ones should also honour older ones. Servants (subordinates) must honour their master(Boss). Titus 2:9, 1Peter 2:18.
In general, we must learn to honour all men, whosoever they are-old, young, poor, rich, parents, spiritual authorities, children, masters, slaves all alike. Leviticus. 19:15.
When you see a man who cannot honour men that he sees, such man cannot honour God.
The honour you give to men that you see, goes a long way in spelling out your honour for God.
You must always GIVE HONOUR TO WHOM IT IS DUE.
