BENONI OR BENJAMIN

Text. Genesis 35:18.

Just before she died, Rachel called her son’s name Ben-oni, but his father Jacob named him Benjamin.

One of the sacred roles God gave to parents is the privilege of giving names to their children.

Unfortunately, many parents have abused this privilege. Today, we have children who answer to meaningless, useless and ungodly names given to them by their parents.

God gave parents at least nine full months to think and pray for a name that their child(ren) will bear before they land on planet earth. Many parents however,( Some Christians inclusive) will have no useful name to give their wards except to name the child after the day of the week or after their grandfather or grandmother whose names has no bearing in God's agenda.

I have asked many people for the meaning of their names and I've gotten many sorry responses. Some will say, " my Dad just like how the word sounds and he gave me as name," another will say, " oh, I watch someone in a movie, and I decided to give the same name of a particular character to my child." Several others will just plainly say they don't know the meaning and they probably don't care.

For whatever reason, we see that a number of times, women are the ones naming their children the most in the Bible. It was Eve who named Cain, Abel and Seth. All the twelve sons of Jacob were named by their mothers.

God told Zecharaiah that his son will be called John, but because his wife was in tune with God, she also got the same name even when her husband couldn't talk.

However, for Rachel, she named her son BENONI meaning 'child of pain' because of the pain she experienced during labour which eventually led to her death. But thank God for her husband,-Jacob. He was a present father.

He changed the destiny of his child for good by changing the bad name his mother gave him.

BENONI, child of pain was changed to Benjamin child of my right hand. Every good thing comes from the right side symbolically, Exodus 15:6.

A child who should answer "a child of pain" all through his life with its accompanying imports now becomes a child who produces the first king in Isreal.

Don't let situation determine the name you answer, answer a name that aligns with the program of God for your life.

Even if the name was given to you by your parents or prophet or pastor, if it's not in agreement with God's purpose for your life, feel free to change it and God will honor your decision.

CHANGE YOUR BENONI TO BENJAMIN TODAY.

 Genesis 35:16-20.

 PRAYER FOCUS

1.) Father, I receive the grace to align myself into your will for my life in everything I do in Jesus name.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

WAY MAKER-2

Text: Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth: shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness,  and rivers in the desert. God promised that He will do a new thing for you, and that He will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. He has done this before, and He will do it again even in your own life.  When the children of Israel left Egypt, the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them, encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.(Exodus 14:9). Just like anyone would react, the Isrealites became so fearful because there is neither way forward nor back for them to escape. Before them was the red sea, behind them were the Egyptian armies. They became perplexed and began to murmur against Moses. It is possible you are also in a situation like the Israelites- No way forward, and no way behind. Things may appear like you are ...

THE GREATEST

Text : Matthew 18:4   *Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.*   *Being the greatest in the kingdom is not about what you do but who you are.* Jesus pointed out here that little children are humble beings. Hence, what qualifies a person as the greatest in the kingdom of heaven is humility. Little children are both lowly and meek. These are qualities that does not come naturally to an adult. For instance, when you bring a little child from a wealthy background to live in a very poor home with another poor little child, he will gladly comply without any struggle. He will never complain or compare. He will simply adapt and gladly receive all the low and impoverished treatments. No adult or grown up child can accept this so easily.  That is the reason Jesus did not ask us to be converted and become as a child but ' *little child* '   _And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be co...
