Text : John 10:10
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly .
Yesterday we looked at one of the three missions of the enemy in our world- Steal, Kill and destroy.
Today, we shall be looking at the second mission of the enemy against our soul. The devil is a murderer from the very beginning. He is a killer. Jesus said that the devil is a murderer from the very beginning. (John 8:44).
Devil, being a murderer from the beginning killed Adam and Eve. Thereafter, he killed Abel through the instrument of Cain.
The first death the devil brought man (Adam and Eve) into was spiritual death, and thereafter physical death in Abel.
Death can simply be defined as ceasation of life. The very source of life is God, and He is the true living God from whom all living emanates from. He is the one who has given vitality to all the living things on the face of the earth.
Therefore, anyone who is out of touch with God is dead. This is the major mission of the devil. That's why he has come to kill. Devil always seek to separate man from God. This separation is death. It is important to know that spiritual death is more grievous than physical death. While spiritual death is separation from God, physical death is temporal separation from your immediate environment.
The major work of the devil is to kill a man spiritually.
To stay in fellowship with God, you must abide in the true Vine. That's why Jesus said in John 15:6 that If a man abide not in him, such one is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
This is eternal death. If you do not abide in the true vine, death is imminent.
Be more afraid of eternal detachment from the true Vine (Jesus Christ) and God than the physical death.
