IN THE CROSS

Text: 1 Corinthians  1:18  

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

The cross is a means of crucifying criminals in ancient times.

Crucifixion has been in existence long before the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. It was considered one of the most brutal and shameful modes of death. It probably originated with the Assyrians and Babylonians, and later it was introduced to Rome in the 3rd century BC.

Jesus' death on the cross, connotes three major expressions in your life as a child of God:

1. *God's Divine Love For You:*  
The only  surest means to ascertaining God's love over your life is the offering of His Son on the cross for your sins.  *Nothing more can assure you of God's love for you than the offering of His son on the cross.* Romans 5:8 says that _God commands his love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us._ 

 *No matter where you are, or what you are going through, God's love for you is ever constant and unchanging.* Whenever  the devil makes an attempt to deceive you that God does not love you enough, simply point him to the love He (God) showed through the offering of His Son, Jesus Christ, on the cross for your sake.

Don't be carried away by your unpleasant circumstances. Always fix your gaze on the cross. That's where your glory lies. 

For you to come into  experiential knowledge of God's love, you must:

Believe God's love!
Accept God's love! and be well established in God's love!

Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
1 John  3:16.
Yes, He loves you with an everlasting love.

1.) Father God, I receive, believe and accept the unconditional love shown to me through the crucifixion of my Lord and Saviour Jesus.

Text: Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth: shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness,  and rivers in the desert. God promised that He will do a new thing for you, and that He will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. He has done this before, and He will do it again even in your own life.  When the children of Israel left Egypt, the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them, encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.(Exodus 14:9). Just like anyone would react, the Isrealites became so fearful because there is neither way forward nor back for them to escape. Before them was the red sea, behind them were the Egyptian armies. PRAYING MEN

Text : 1Timothy 2:8. I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. God gave explicit instructions to all of His children as to how we must live our lives. Some of these instructions cut across boards, of which all of God's children must obey. However, there are some instructions that are specific to gender or portfolios. We we'll be looking at some of these instructions today.  *THE MEN* From our text, there are two distinct responsibilities God wants men to undertake, and the two are intertwined. First, God wants men to pray. The word  'men' as used in our text is not generic as to mean all human beings. It is specifically requesting that all men should pray. Yes, God expects every of His children to pray, but He specifically called men out here.  A number of times,  when prayer meetings are called, the proportion of women in attendance always outnumbered men. This is because the devil knows the import of praying men.
