Text: Matthew 5:13
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
My family and I recently moved to a new region. The frontage of our apartment is covered with beautiful flowers. But it's obvious these flowers had not been attended to for a long time. They are overgrown with many unruly plants.
Flowers are beautiful, but when left unattended, they become like forest, a hide out for dangerous animals.
What is meant to beautify your house can be a dangerous trap, especially for unsuspecting persons.
Jesus said you are the salt of the earth. That is, you are here to season the earth and to bring beauty and savour to it.
But do you know that salt can loose its savour. Any child of God that has lost his savour will be detrimental to himself and his environment.
Like that flower, when you are left unattended to, you become dangerous to the body of Christ and to your environment.
John 15:1 says "I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. When you are unavailable to the Father's pruning, you will grow to be an unruly plant.
A child of God should carry with him the aura of glory, beauty and peace. This can only come about when you submit to the tutelage of Christ. Anyone who is not submissive to Christ's discipline will render himself and his life as a hideout to the devil where all forms of terrible characters are displayed.
Let your life bring to God and to those around you a sweet smelling savour.
