THE JOURNEY 2

Text : 1 Peter 2:11.

Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

My family and I have been on missionary journey for some years now. We have to move from place to place. Whenever we get to a new place, we try as much as possible to buy only the needful, knowing well that we have to leave everything behind probably after a few years and move on again.

We constantly remind ourselves how we need to travel light, because we are conscious of the fact that we are on a journey. In the same manner, believers are meant to travel light on this side of eternity in order not to be encumbered on their journey.

One terrible thing the devil has done to believers is to make them settle down here (on earth) as though this is our final destination.

No one goes to the market to build an edifice where he and his family will be living. No! People go to markets to  transact, buy or sell and they go back home. *This world is a market. You are here to transact, and you are expected to return home with your saved soul.*

*The currency you transact with in this world is your time, the moment your time is up, you are done here, next is to give account of what you have done  with your currency.*

This is why Matthew  16:26 says _For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?_

By now, you should know that everything in this world, regardless of how glorious or dainty it looks, is not worth the value of your soul. Your soul is worth much more than the whole world. Hence, you cannot make any profit even if you decide to trade your soul for this world.

Jesus came to this world to awaken your dead spirit back to life. (Ephesians 2:1). The import of this is that, your Spirit man is quickened so you can use the rest of your life to work out the salvation of your soul through and with the help of the Holy Spirit. (1 Peter 1:9, Philippians 2:12-13).

Dear pilgrim, do not lose focus on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. Let your gaze always be on Him, and you will never fall short of His expectation.

*Bible Reading:*

1 Peter1:1-11.

PRAYER FOCUS

1.) Father God, please help me to follow your leadings in this journey of life in Jesus name.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
