ARE YOU A LEARNER?

Text : Matthew 11:29.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Jesus gave an open invitation in Matthew 11:28  to everyone. He said, "Come unto me , all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest". This invitation is given to anyone who realised that:
1.He is labouring.
2.He is heavy laden.
3.He needed rest.

The truth is that, *it is not everyone who is labouring and heavy laden has come to the realisation of their need for rest, and it is not everyone who has realised their need for rest are willing and ready to receive REST.* But for you to receive rest, there is only one way to access it. It is by coming to Jesus.

The moment you get to Jesus, He will give you Rest.  But for you to progressively experience the rest, you surely do have a part to play. Note that it is not everyone that receive the rest that Jesus is offering at the point of confessing Him as their Saviour and Lord.

To keep and maintain His Rest,  you must do these two things :

1.*Take His yoke upon you.* Don't be deceived, Jesus do give His followers a Yoke to carry as well.  *Any Christian who refuses to take the yoke of Christ will automatically take the yoke of satan.* (Ephesians 2:2, John 12:31).

Jesus' yoke is easy and His burden is light. (Matthews 11:30). Without Jesus' yoke, you cannot be delivered from satanic yoke.
Your success as a child of God is directly dependent on your willingness to take up the yoke of Christ.

2.Learn of Him:  The second prerequisite Jesus gave for finding rest for your soul is to learn of Him.  Take my yoke upon you, *and learn of me;* for I am meek and lowly in heart: *and ye shall find rest unto your souls.* (Matthews 11:29)

To learn of Jesus is to become His disciple. It is to have His kind of mind. Apostle Paul admonished the Philippian church on this, saying "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 2:5).

To have the mind of Christ, you must be a learner of Him. No learning or training is palatable, even our the Lord Jesus Christ learnt through suffering. Though he were a Son, yet He learnt obedience by the things which he suffered. (Hebrew 5:8).

Jesus Christ remains our perfect example. He is the author and perfecter of our faith. (Hebrews 12:2). If He learnt, you also have to learn.
It's high time you enrolled in the school of the Spirit and be ready to learn and unlearn.

Always remember- *genuine maturity comes through many years of active learning.*
