Redeem the Time

Text:Eph 5:15-17.

See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.  Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Time is the most essential resource God has given to man on earth. Your future is simply defined by how you are able to invest your time today. The difference between world changers and spectators is simply in the usage and Investment of their time. *While so many people spend time, only very few invest and convert time.* No one on earth has more than 24hours per day, but some people are able to produce more with their 24hrs than others. This is what we call efficiency and effectiveness.

To be effective and efficient in life, you must learn how to convert your time. While some folks are jumping from pillar to post, some have learnt to sit down, think and invest their time in a worthy cause. Don’t ever be deceived by thinking that you still have more time. Anyone who spends his time lavishly today will enter into his tomorrow empty.

The Bible encourages us to be Wise. The wise are those who carefully consider how they live. They make good use of every opportunity. They don’t only go to office or go for church meetings and do other dutiful exercise(s); they stretch themselves to make every minute counts for their future. They seek to put themselves under pressure to produce tangible results with their time today.

The second thing we must seek is to understand the Lord’s will.  If you are able to make good use of every opportunity but do not understand God’s will, you may just be like a pilot flying the plane without direction. Purpose and Time are interwoven. If you do not understand the will of God for your life while you are still young, you may be investing your time in the wrong cause.

While I was in my teen age, I fervently prayed to God asking to know His will for my life. From that time on, I started converting and investing my time on what the Lord showed me. That truly pays off.

I am not just talking about drawing a time table for your daily routines. You must also seek to know what the Lord’s will is for you. By that, you will be able to use your time not just on mere routines (which at best only lead to rat race) but also preparing for the future that God has for you.
