DON'T BE ABSORBED.

Text:Luke 17:26&27.

And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man:They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.

Jesus Christ made a very vital remark  about His second coming which all believers must pay keen attention to.

On several occasions, Jesus  would instruct His disciples to watch and pray. For instance, in Matthew 25:13, He said "Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming."

As a follow-up to this call, He gave a similar instance that would precede His coming. Just like in the days of Noah, human activities and commerce will be going on as usual.

Jesus mentioned few human activities that will continue as usual, but would be interrupted by His appearance. These activities are legitimate ones. Such include:

1.Eating and Drinking: One may wonder how and why Jesus mentioned eating and drinking as part of human legitimate activities that would be stopped abruptly by His appearance.
The whole reason  people run helter-skelter and from pillar to post looking for jobs and greener pastures, is basically because of Food and Drink.

While eating and drinking are important to human survival, Jesus warned that man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of God's mouth. (Matthew 4:4).

*God does not want you to live by bread(food) alone but by every single word from His mouth.(Matthew 4:4).* Therefore, you must always ask yourself: "Am I hussling and labouring for the sake of bread alone or am I living by God's word?"

For instance, if you are given an instruction to resign your job for the purpose of ministry, and you jettison this instruction, then you are living by bread alone.

Another instance for business owners or employees is when God lays a demand for sacrificial giving on your heart  for the advancement of His kingdom, and you turn deaf hear to such instruction. You refuse to obey such instruction because it will reduce your bank account.

The whole reason for which people labour and hussle can be traced back to "BREAD" for the stomach. But Jesus wants to change the narratives. He wants you to respond only to His word and not Bread.

Jesus made His point in Matthew 4:4 clearer when He said, *"Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him." (John 6:27).
