WATCH & PRAY-2

Text: Mark 13:33

Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

Yesterday, we saw that the second coming of Christ shall not be a sudden event to believers that are prepared, and looking forward to His return.

Today, we shall be looking at the preparations you must make in order to stay alert at Christ's coming.
Our study text shows us three things you must do.
Jesus said, "¹Take heed, ²watch and ³pray; for you do not know when the time is."

*1. Take Heed:* metaphorically, this means seeing with the mind's eye; to discern; to watch carefully.  The Lord wants every believer to grow in discernment of the time and season we are in. He wants you to pay attention to your daily walk with Him.

*2. Watch:* It means to keep awake,
to be circumspect, attentive, and ready. The Lord would have you  always prepared and ready towards His coming because you know not the specific time He would return. Apostle Paul warned the church in Ephesus thus *"See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise"(Ephesians 5:15)*.

*You must daily watch for His coming, and live every moment in view of eternity, that's the only way you can be assured of reigning with Him forever.*

*3. Pray:* Taking heed, and being watchful will amount to effort in futility without praying. This type of prayer is a prayer of consecration. Most of the prayers people pray in our churches today are no longer that of consecration but fleshly and carnal prayers.

*When you stay in spirit-led prayer, you ward off sin, dissolve temptation, increase God's presence with you and His anointing upon your life.*

*Bible Reading:*

1 Thessalonians 5:1-11.

 *PRAYER FOCUS*

1.) Father God, I pray that you give me grace, strength and wisdom to remain watchful and sober towards your second coming in Jesus name.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
