THE WAY OF UNDERSTANDING.

Text: Proverbs 21:16.

The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.

Some people are living corpse. Anyone void of understanding is dead while living.

From our text, it is clear that, to join the company of the dead is to walk away from the path of understanding. To shun understanding is to shun life and embrace death.

Understanding is the path to life. Psalms 119:144 says Your righteous decrees are eternal;  give me understanding, and I will live._

While explaining the parable of the sower, Jesus said the evil ones will snatch away eternal seed from anyone who lacks understanding.
*When anyone hears the word about the kingdom yet doesn’t understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. (Matthew 13:19).

If understanding is this important, you should really strive to get it. But the question is, how do I get the God-kind of understanding?

Psalms 119:130 says, _The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple._ That is, understanding comes through the word of God. The more of His words you expose yourself to, the more understanding you garner.

You can also get understanding by asking God for it. Proverbs 2:3 says, _Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;_ You can and you should actually pray to God to bless you with the spirit of understanding.

Paul's prayers for the Ephesians Church was geared towards this. And you can personalise this  prayer for yourself too.

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints_ (Ephesians 1:17-18).

Bible reading:

Ephesians 1:1-23.

PRAYER FOCUS

1.) Heavenly Father, I pray that the eyes of my understanding be enlightened in Jesus name.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
