Text : Mark 14:3
And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.
I know you are familiar with the story of Mary and the Alabaster box of special ointment that she broke on Jesus, yes, but let's glean some lessons from this very peculiar act of hers.
The Alabaster box is a very beautiful container, it's so beautiful that it is used as a decoration piece.
This container was made out of marble stone and it is usually used to store expensive, fancy, and beautiful perfumes and oils for special occasions.
Beautiful as this box is however, it has to be broken before its content can be useful.
The box was made in such a way that without breaking it, you can't fully access its contents.
This Alabaster box is symbolic. It can be liken to you as a human being, and its precious ointment is symbolic of the Jesus in your spirit man who needs to gain expression through your soul.
2Corinthians 4:7 says, "But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us."
Once you are born again, your spirit man is quickened back to life. At that instance, the Spirit of Christ is resident in your spirit. This is why Romans 8:16 says *The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:* However, until you allow God to break you and mould you through the workings of His Holy Spirit, Jesus will not gain expression in your everyday life.
Like Mary, you have to willfully bring yourself to the feet of Jesus, and totally surrender yourself and everything that is precious to you to Him.
You must willfully surrender your will (your old ways of doing things) to Jesus Christ. *Anyone whose will is not broken cannot carry out the will of God.*
Until your will is broken and poured forth at the feet of Jesus, His fragrance cannot fill your life and your existence.
