WEAK CONSCIENCE-2

Text: 1 Cor. 8:12

But when you thus sin against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.

*What you know will always puff you up when love is absent. It is only love that builds up.* Hence, 1Corinthians 8:1 says knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.

Today, we shall begin to look at the possible outcomes of having knowledge in the head without love in your heart.

First of all, I want us to look at the question the Lord is asking you through Apostle Paul's writing in 1 Corinthians 8:11. He asked the church, "... because of your knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?"
The New Livung Translation of the Bible puts it thus, "So because of your superior knowledge, a weak believer for whom Christ died will be destroyed."

Your superior knowledge would simply be a destructive one if you will not consider your brethren whose conscience is weak. In other words, what you know and display may simply destroy your brethren.

In God's kingdom, you must lay your life down for your brethren, you must consider your brethren, you must think for your brethren and you must consider how your actions and inactions could destroy your brethren.

When you use your superior knowledge to impair the faith of your brethren whose  conscience is weak, the Bible says you sin against them and against Christ. (1Cor.8:13).

God will not only hold you liable for the sins you commit against Him, but also for the sin you commit against the brethren (the body of Christ) by your lifestyle. Sin against the brethren is Sin against Christ.

If you know that certain things you do will overturn and overthrow the faith and conscience of your brethren, then LOVE demands that you stop doing such things.

Bible  Reading:

Romans 8:1-13.

 *PRAYER FOCUS*

1.) Father, help me to always walk in love towards you and my brethren.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
