MESSAGE FROM HELL

Text : Luke 16:28

For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

One of the messages we hardly hear from the pulpit today is on Hell fire. The few preachers that preach about it seems to often missed out the essence. They always see their fellow believers in hell. They throw the message of hell fire at their fellow brethren as if they themselves have been immuned or they  are the only special messangers from the Lord.

Today, the Lord would have us start considering the matter of hell fire as He rightly taught about it in the gospel. Our Lord Jesus Christ gave a narration or story in Luke 16. Infact, the Bible did not tell us whether it was a story or parable, Jesus just opened up the discourse.
However, it is certain that it wasn't a parable. Jesus must have painted a true scenario of what had happened, what was happening or what would happen in the future.

The learning points from the story are:
1. Hell fire is real (Luke 16:23-24).
2. People will be aware of their life on earth even in hell. (Luke 16:23).
3. People can still cry out for mercy in hell, but it will be too late then. (Luke 16:24).
4. People in hell would always wish that their beloved ones wouldn't join them in hell fire. (Luke 16:27-28).
5. The messages from true men of God are enough to deter anyone from hell fire. (Luke 16:29).
6. If people wouldn't hear God's messangers on earth, they wouldnt also hear from anyone who has returned from hell fire.(Luke 16:31).

It is important to note that hell fire is not a place of judgement as a result of your riches or being rich, rather, it is a place of judgement for those who are not rich towards God and in good works. (Luke 12:21, 1Tim. 6:18). A rich person may not just be one who owns goods and money, but one who is owned by goods and money(mammom).

Sad enough, if one is owned by goods, materials and money, then  such a person is serving mammon and he is rich towards the devil but definitely not towards God. He is full of the things of this world and Satan, that he has no place for God. And anyone that serves mammon cannot inherit God's kingdom.
That's the case with the rich men in Luke chapter 12 and chapter 16.

Whether you are rich or Poor in the  physical, the Lord would still want you to be poor in the spirit. Until then you cannot inherit the Kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 5:3)

When you allow the riches of this world to get a hold of your heart, then you can no longer have space for the Lord the way you ought to.

So today, it is good to close on the note that the rich man did not go to hell because he was rich,  but because he was not poor in the spirit, he was too full that God has no place in his heart.

Bible  Reading:

 Luke 16:19-31.

 PRAYER FOCUS

1.) Father God, please help me to be poor in the spirit, and to be rich towards you so that I may inherit the Kingdom of heaven.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
