LIFE INVESTMENT!

Text : Matthew 16:26

For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose." Jim Elliot.

This is one of Jim Elliot's quotes that has lived on for many decades after his death. He died alongside four others. They were killed in an attempt to evangelize the Huaoroni people of  Ecuador on January 8th,1956.

As if these five missionaries knew what exactly they were living for, one of them, Nate Saints also wrote before his death in Ecuador - , _"People who do not know the Lord ask why in the world we waste our lives as missionaries. They forget that they too are expending their lives… and when the bubble has burst, they will have nothing of eternal significance to show for the years they have wasted."_

One question you may need to ask yourself is, "What eternal purpose am I investing my life on?

Just like Nate Saints wrote, you need to know that you are expending your life whether you know it or not.The only question you need to further ask yourself is, "What am I expending my life on?"

I quickly want to let you know that *you can easily measure how your life is being expended by simply determining where your strength, time and money are going.*

*The key parameter Indices for measuring your life investments are: your labour (strength), money, and time.*

You must therefore learn to invest these three things (strength, time and money) in God's kingdom in a very meaningful way.

Your soul is the very seat of your life, and it determines how you expend your strength, time and money.

For instance, Jesus gave a command on how you should expend your strength (labour) as a matter of priority. He said in
John 6:27, "Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you..."

He also spoke about what your approach towards time should be. He said, "I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work." John 9:4.

Apostle Paul in Ephesians 5:15&16 said, "See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil."

Time is life! So goes the popular saying.
Hence, the Psalmist says, "...teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom." (Psalms 90:12).

To invest your life wisely, you must invest and prioritise  your strength and its usage, time and money on God and His kingdom.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

WAY MAKER-2

Text: Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth: shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness,  and rivers in the desert. God promised that He will do a new thing for you, and that He will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. He has done this before, and He will do it again even in your own life.  When the children of Israel left Egypt, the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them, encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.(Exodus 14:9). Just like anyone would react, the Isrealites became so fearful because there is neither way forward nor back for them to escape. Before them was the red sea, behind them were the Egyptian armies. They became perplexed and began to murmur against Moses. It is possible you are also in a situation like the Israelites- No way forward, and no way behind. Things may appear like you are ...

THE GREATEST

Text : Matthew 18:4   *Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.*   *Being the greatest in the kingdom is not about what you do but who you are.* Jesus pointed out here that little children are humble beings. Hence, what qualifies a person as the greatest in the kingdom of heaven is humility. Little children are both lowly and meek. These are qualities that does not come naturally to an adult. For instance, when you bring a little child from a wealthy background to live in a very poor home with another poor little child, he will gladly comply without any struggle. He will never complain or compare. He will simply adapt and gladly receive all the low and impoverished treatments. No adult or grown up child can accept this so easily.  That is the reason Jesus did not ask us to be converted and become as a child but ' *little child* '   _And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be co...
