Text: Romans 6:16.
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Interestingly, you are in control of whom you submit to as servants, however, once your choice is made you have automatically chosen your outcome.*
Jesus said emphatically in Matthew 6:24 that no one can serve two masters. You can't serve God and mammon. In the same way, you can't serve sin and righteousness at the same time.
If you have been freed from sin, you have become slaves of righteousness and vice versa. Roman 6:18.
Many who refer to themselves as servants of God today are actually servants of Sin. A number of activities they engage in (even in the name of God) are engineered by sin. Sins like greed, competition, pride, covetousness, selfish ambition, showmanship and the likes are the motivation for the services rendered in God's name.
The question is, who is your master? Who are you submitting to? You must know that *once you are not working in obedience to righteousness, you have automatically submitted yourself to sin as your master.*
When you give in to anger, jealousy, malice, fornication, lying, stealing and any of such works of the flesh, you have given sin the throne to rule as master over your life.
But you can receive grace today to unseat sin in your life and let righteousness reign.
Let not sin rule over you!
