Text: John 16:33.
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me you might have peace. In the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."
Let's look at some key words and some action words in our text today :
*SPOKEN :* Jesus said "these things I have spoken unto you..." How many of the things that Jesus had spoken unto you have you heard? If a lecturer is speaking and you didn't hear what he's saying, you can't profit from it as a student.
It's important for you to hear when your master is speaking. Jesus said His sheep hear His voice and they follow Him. John 10:4.
One thing that qualifies you to hear His voice is that you are His sheep. A true sheep knows and follows the voice of the shepherd. Are you a sheep in the sheepfold of Jesus Christ?
John 10:5 says 'a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.'
*Any voice other than Jesus' voice is the voice of strangers, desist from listening to it.* As a matter of fact, we are enjoined to flee from strangers because their aim is to corrupt and lead one astray.
Now, it's one thing to hear the voice of the true shepherd, it's another to obey it. The question is, how many of the things that Jesus had spoken unto you have you obeyed?
James 1:22 says be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
*To progress and prosper in the faith journey, you must be careful to hear and observe all that Jesus is saying to you.* Joshua 1:8.
*Bible Reading:* John 16:25-33.
PRAYER FOCUS
Father Lord, I receive the grace to hear and obey your words in Jesus name.
