Text: James 4:6.
But he gives all the more grace. And so he says, “God opposes the arrogant but gives grace to the humble.”
Pride emanates from the devil himself. Pride is the reason he's called devil. Because the devil knows that God can't stand pride, he saw to it that every fallen man has prideful nature in him.
1 John 2:16 makes it abundantly clear what this world comprises of - *For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.* Basically, the world is filled and ruled by these three vices- lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and pride of life.
From the very beginning, these three vices has been the weapon the devil uses to take man down. Unfortunately, many believers are still being overcome by these sins.
Many faithful Christians who understand these devil's vice and who had successfully escaped the claws of the first two are still subtly plagued with pride.
Anyone who claims to belong to the Father must expunge everything of this world ( which invariably is of the devil) and embrace everything of the Father.
Pride however is one silent enemy that a child of God must fight vehemently. Pride can only be fought through the help of the Holy Spirit.
Bobby Conner ( a seasoned prophet of God) says, *the Spirit builds confidence, the flesh builds arrogance.* It's only through the help of the Holy Spirit that you can know the area where pride is lurking deep on your inside.
A husband can be proud towards the wife and vice versa. There can be pride between parents and the children and so on. As a matter of fact, pride is first and foremost a thing of the heart, so you can be proud without people knowing it, but it can't go unnoticed before God.
Proverbs 16:5 says *Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.*
*If you don't want to be resisted by God, allow Him to help you in dealing with pride in your life.*
