Text: Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;
Trusting in the Lord entails three things: to depend on Him wholeheartedly, not to lean on your own understanding and to acknowledge Him in all your ways. (Proverbs 3:5-6).
We shall be looking into each of these three ingredients of trust closely one after the other.
To trust in the Lord, all your heart must be involved. *There is no trust in the Lord if your whole heart is not submitted unto Him.*
When the scripture says that you should trust with all your heart, it simply means that your heart is in compartments. It is therefore possible for a man to trust in the Lord but not with his whole heart.
A heart that fully trusts in the Lord is a perfect heart. Such was the heart of the three Jews in Babylon. They stood before King Nebuchadnezzar and declared, "O King Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer you in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto you, O king, that we will not serve your gods, nor worship the golden image which you have set up. " (Daniel 16-18).
The disposition of Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego revealed hearts that fully trust in the Lord.
They trusted with the whole of their heart. They don't care whether they live or die. Their hearts were fully set on God. They had no options in their hearts. They had no alternatives. They simply trusted God with all of their hearts.
*God wants all your heart and not part of it, and until all on the alter is laid, you cannot see His manifest presence and power at work.*
When you trust with all your heart, you don't care about the consequence of your actions in God. You are not so bothered about the outcome of your standing for God; positive or negative, you simply give all of your heart to Him.
Whenever you have no alternatives to God's way and commands, then you are trusting Him with all your heart.
