Text: Philippians 4:6
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
The resultant effect of being careful for nothing, but committing everything to God in prayer is *PEACE.*
The word peace which comes from the Hebrew word "shallom" in old testament, and "eirene" in Greek carries the same meaning basically. But the Peace- "Shallom" in Hebrew reveals deeper desire of God for man. Shallom means completeness, wholeness, soundness, safety.
When you pray, the first answer you receive from God is Shallom-Peace. He guards your heart with Peace (wholeness and soundness).
The reason we pray today is not just for fellowship, it is rather because shallom was broken down in the garden of Eden.
Shallom was lost in the garden of Eden, hence everything became awry.
So, the first thing that man lost in the garden of Eden was Peace-with God, His presence and Himself. Hence, the first thing that faith in Jesus brings to you in salvation is Peace with God.
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: (Romans 5:1).
In whatever circumstances you find yourself today, the first and most important thing you need is God's Shallom. *Faith brings justification, and justification gives you Peace with God through Jesus Christ. No man can attain true Peace with God without Jesus Christ.*
God's primary interest therefore, is to guard your mind and heart with His peace whenever you lay your request before Him.
*So, to be anxious for nothing, you must as well learn to present everything in Prayer before the Lord. ONLY then would God's Shallom guard your mind and heart in Christ Jesus.*
Never worry about anything. Instead, in every situation let your petitions be made known to God through prayers with thanksgiving.
Then God’s peace, which goes far beyond anything we can imagine, will guard your hearts and minds in union with the Messiah Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7 ISV).
Although, no single believer is exempted from tribulation while in this world, but Jesus has assured us of His PEACE!
He said to His disciples (and to you today), *"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me you might have peace. In the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world"* (John 16:33).
*Bible Reading:* Luke 4:1-12.
*PRAYER FOCUS*
Father Lord, I receive your Shallom (Peace) in Jesus name.
