DISCIPLINE-3

Text: 1 Cor. 9:25

All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize.

*It is your responsibility to put your body under control, it is the Holy Spirit's to bring forth the fruit.*

Discipline is achieved through self-control. To be  self-controlled, is to be disciplined. And  Self-control is a fruit which only the Spirit of God can bring forth in your life.

You cannot become a genuine disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ without temperance (self-control). This is one of the fruits of the Spirit which we must cooperate with the Holy Spirit to cultivate in our lives.

Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 9:25 "..
"...everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things..."

It is expected that *one who competes for the prize must be temperate in all things.*

Therefore, as one who runs in the heavenly race for the imperishable prize, you must be self-controlled (disciplined) *in ALL THINGS.*

For instance, you must be self-controlled in your food consumption, in the usage of your tongue (words), in the usage of your phone, in sleep, in  sex, and desire for things.

Joseph showed self-control over immoral and ungodly sexual appetite by refusing to sleep with Potiphar's wife. (Genesis 39:9).

Daniel showed self-control by his determination not to defile himself with the portion of the King's meat and drink.(Daniel 1:8).

Many 'destinies' and 'glories' have been cheaply traded and thrown away due to lack of self-control.

See the case of Esau. He lost his place simply because he couldn't tame his wild appetite for food. (Genesis 25:28-34).

Watch your appetites, lest you become an appetizer for the enemy.

Though God has given us all things richly to enjoy, yet moderacy is still a golden rule in our race. (1Timothy 6:17).

Bible Reading:

Genesis 25:28-34.

PRAYER FOCUS

Father Lord, I receive the grace to grow in self-control in Jesus name.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

WAY MAKER-2

Text: Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth: shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness,  and rivers in the desert. God promised that He will do a new thing for you, and that He will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. He has done this before, and He will do it again even in your own life.  When the children of Israel left Egypt, the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them, encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.(Exodus 14:9). Just like anyone would react, the Isrealites became so fearful because there is neither way forward nor back for them to escape. Before them was the red sea, behind them were the Egyptian armies. They became perplexed and began to murmur against Moses. It is possible you are also in a situation like the Israelites- No way forward, and no way behind. Things may appear like you are ...

BEWARE OF DOGS

Text :  Philippians 3:2. Beware of the dogs! Beware of the evil workers! Beware of the mutilators! Usually, when you see the inscription "BEWARE OF DOGS", you instantly know there's a wild or trained dog around the corner, hence, the need to beware.  However, when God says 'Beware of dogs,' He wasn't actually referring to dogs as in 'animals' but to animals in human skin. Note that this caution was given to believers against other so-called  believers.  That is, some people within the church that we refer to as brothers and sisters are actually operating in the capacity of dogs.Though fellow worshippers in the church are called brothers and sisters, but if they behave like wild animals, know that they are dogs in humans skin- BEWARE. Matthew  7:6 says *Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.*  Essentially, dogs don't have capacity to r...
