DISCIPLINE-2

Text: 1 Cor. 9:25

All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize.

If the athletes are disciplined in their training just to win a prize that will fade away, how much more a disciple that is pursuing imperishable prize.

Many christians are not aware that they are in a race. Are you aware that you are in a race? Apostle Paul knew this for a fact, hence he said, *"...I run with purpose in every step..."* (1Corinthians 9:26).

Are you also running your own race with a purpose in every step? If you are, then you will also do one thing that Paul did-discipline your body like an athlete.

Unlike the normal race (in contest) which  you are familiar with, the  race I am talking about is that which God has set before you (us), and such must be run with endurance.

In the race of 'Life' which God has set before you, it is required that you put your body under discipline (control). This is one thing that no one else can do for you except yourself.

You are the only one who can put your body under discipline. It is after you have presented yourself that God can take you up for pruning, and then bring forth the fruit.

You need to know that it is not your discipline that get the work done, but it brings you to a position where the Lord can accept and work on you.

For instance, a farmer had to prepare the ground for planting before he puts a seed into the ground. While it is God's responsibility to cause the seed to grow, it is the farmer's responsibility to cultivate the ground.

In the same vein, discipline is not what brings out the fruit of spirituality in you, but it is the preparation which you must do in order for God to bring about the fruit.

It is your responsibility to put your body under control, it is God's to bring forth the fruit.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

WAY MAKER-2

Text: Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth: shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness,  and rivers in the desert. God promised that He will do a new thing for you, and that He will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. He has done this before, and He will do it again even in your own life.  When the children of Israel left Egypt, the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them, encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.(Exodus 14:9). Just like anyone would react, the Isrealites became so fearful because there is neither way forward nor back for them to escape. Before them was the red sea, behind them were the Egyptian armies. They became perplexed and began to murmur against Moses. It is possible you are also in a situation like the Israelites- No way forward, and no way behind. Things may appear like you are ...

BEWARE OF DOGS

Text :  Philippians 3:2. Beware of the dogs! Beware of the evil workers! Beware of the mutilators! Usually, when you see the inscription "BEWARE OF DOGS", you instantly know there's a wild or trained dog around the corner, hence, the need to beware.  However, when God says 'Beware of dogs,' He wasn't actually referring to dogs as in 'animals' but to animals in human skin. Note that this caution was given to believers against other so-called  believers.  That is, some people within the church that we refer to as brothers and sisters are actually operating in the capacity of dogs.Though fellow worshippers in the church are called brothers and sisters, but if they behave like wild animals, know that they are dogs in humans skin- BEWARE. Matthew  7:6 says *Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.*  Essentially, dogs don't have capacity to r...
