NECESSARY ADDITIONS-2

Text: 2 Peter 1:5-7

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

We established yesterday that it is not enough to proclaim faith in God,  but that one must give all diligence to ensure that you grow in that faith by intentionally working on the necessary additions.

Today we shall be looking at the next addition; *KNOWLEDGE* .

Hosea 4:6 says- My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge,  I will also reject you, from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children.

This goes to show how important knowledge is.
Though they are people of God, yet they were destroyed for lack of knowledge. And not just that, God promised to reject whoever has rejected knowledge. That is,  rejecting knowledge is tantamount to rejecting God.

It's no surprise then that Apostle  Paul prayed for the Saints in Ephesus *that the Lord will give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.*

One necessary addition to pay attention to, is Knowledge. Many Christians are zealous for God but not according to knowledge. (Romans 10:2). Anyone in this  box can never offer acceptable service unto God.

Wisdom demands that we pray the same prayer that Paul led in Ephesians 1:15-18 for ourselves on a daily basis that we may indeed grow in the knowledge of Him.

Bible reading:
 2 Peter 1:1-15, Ephesians 1:15-23.

PRAYER FOCUS

1.) Father God,  please help me to be diligent in adding to my faith all that I need to add.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

WAY MAKER-2

Text: Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth: shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness,  and rivers in the desert. God promised that He will do a new thing for you, and that He will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. He has done this before, and He will do it again even in your own life.  When the children of Israel left Egypt, the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them, encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.(Exodus 14:9). Just like anyone would react, the Isrealites became so fearful because there is neither way forward nor back for them to escape. Before them was the red sea, behind them were the Egyptian armies. They became perplexed and began to murmur against Moses. It is possible you are also in a situation like the Israelites- No way forward, and no way behind. Things may appear like you are ...

TIME IN ETERNITY

Text : Psalms 90:12  So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom._  Our God dwells in eternity past, present and future. In between these phases of eternity, He created man to dwell in Time. When man sinned, he fell short of God's plan, and death came in.(Rom 3:23). Death therefore short circuit man's life in eternity. This is the reason Jesus.came.  He had to come into TIME in order to remove the PAUSE  death HAD on man.  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16.  Every man born into this world automatically becomes an eternal being. The question therefore is, which side of eternity would such a man dwell? Everlasting life or Everlasting condemnation? Time is an opportunity given to man to trade for eternal life. You have limited time to exchange for eternal life in eternity.  Time offers you the opportunity to ga...
